Favorite Whiskey

As a recent convert to whiskey I have not had a chance to try many of them but I am doing my best.
The trouble is that after a bottle of it is consumed in an evening I have a tendency to forget a few things. Just last Saturday I put flea and tick meds on my dog and I even dated the package but I don't remember doing it.
I have been drinking Jim Beam and a friend gave me a bottle of Johnnie Walker black.

I thonk I tried them all in my younger-dumber days. Got  from drinking a bottle of southern comfort, have'nt touch it since. Always drank them straight, never liked them mixed. Prefer JD or Black Velvet

I never learned to sip, I'm a gulper so thankfully I don't drink whiskey. Even so in my way younger years, I managed to wake up next to something so horrible I wanted to chew my arm off so I could get away without waking it up.

Started out on my father's Crown Royal. Graduated to Jamison for a number of years. I discovered Makers Mark 10 years ago and enjoyed it. Five years ago I purchased a bottle of Elijah Craig boubon. It is an excellent Kentucky boubon at a very reasonable price. I won't stray anymore. Enjoy!

Wild Turkey 101 is my standard. Heard about a new burbon that came out in early fall last year - Colorado. Learned about it on a Discovery/History Channel show about Whiskey. Looked for it on the shelf of my local liqour store & they said they never heard of it but could order it. Left my phone #. About 3 weeks later I get the call. Go to pick it up & see that it costs $48.00 for a regular size bottle(750ml.)!!! :o Needless to say, I didn't buy it. Anybody had the pleasure of sampling it yet??

I saw that episode also on the whiskey - forgot about it until now. $48, eh? A bit rich for my wallet....

I really enjoy the Jim Beam BLACK label. It's priced about the same as Maker's Mark but far more enjoyable. I also tried Bulleit Bourbon, which was quite good, about on par with Maker's Mark, but the Beam in the black label is really good.

JD, just never get tired of it. Johnny Walker Black, actually Red was my first taste all those years ago, but still a special place in my heart. Down in Jamaica last year I had the pleasure of sipping Black Label for extended periods of time that would have cost me a small fortune back home....good times.

Jim Beam for mixers, always on the shelf. I

Problem with PA State Stores, lousy selection especially in small PA towns. I think there may only be a selection of 7 to 8 bourbons in my local store. Maybe three top shelf, four mid and bottom shelf. Of the top shelf, Makers, Bulliet, JD Gentlemen, Eagle Rare & JD. Not much else.

It's hard to compare bourbons (for me anyway) since a bottle may last 45 days. By the time it is finished, I sample somethng new, I forget what the last tasted like. I thought I liked Makers Mark, compared it a few days ago to Eagle Rare. Eagle is much better although expensive at $25. I'll have to try the Woodford & Elijah Craig & JB Black label

JD is my favorite, but I avoid it for the most part. Too much hassle the next day explaining what happened last night.

Maker's for straight whisky, Cardu for scotch. Neat or with a drop of water, sipped slow.

Jim Beam and ginger ale. Luckily, I get unbelievable head/sinus aches if i have one drink. Every couple years or so I give it a try, just one little drink, and wham. This keeps me from following in some of my ancestors footprints however. I got my share before I developed the affliction in my late 20's.
