Nov 1st and still going strong. I won't shut it down for at least another month and a half or so.

We have no relights this year - we lit the fire on Nov 15 and it's been going ever since.

Lit mine Oct 5, 2008. Will have to shut it down this summer to add the DHW coil, make some plumbing modifications and clean it out. After that I don't see a need to shut down except for a summer cleaning. Going to be my sole source of hot water. Can't shut it down to long.

KAA-2 has been running since very early October.

Expect to shut it down late March or early April.

Do need to exercise the oil burner a little bit.

It is after all my backup.

Started mid oct. Lost power last wed. , untill sat.. Had to relite wed. about 3 hours later , after finding out there were poles down all over the place.

We lit ours sometime just after Halloween and burned around seven cords, then chucked in the anthy. We try to keep her burning all winter. Once the flue heats up we keep it so.

Lit ours second week in August, will burn through the summer... but I'm running out of coal!!!!

I only lost it once this year. Left to go hunting at 5 AM and ended up at Mahogany Ridge till around 10 PM.

I still could have saved it after 17 hours, it had some glowing coals, but I figured it was best not to mess with it in the shape I was in.

I am sad this morning but I am happy. Sad because I have to give up my membership in the "one match" club - boo! Happy because I know why my stove is not burning as well as it has been. Thank you Forum! Before joining the Forum I never realized that the flyash would build up in the chimney connector pipe - it's been 3 years and the build up is just now beginning to affect my draft. I have to let the fire I've had going since Oct go out and give the entire unit a good cleaning. The barro I ordered hasn't arrived yet so I can't use that to access the pipes - bummer! Oh, well it's been a great run! Much longer then any previous year. Thank you Forum.

You might consider modifying your pipe with a cleanout so you can clean it in the future without having to let the fire go out. Here's a pic of mine, modified this year.

You can do the same thing at the bottom of your vertical stack. Then you'd be back in the one match club.
