Why the Hell can't I just keep my big mouth shut!?!? (is there a psychiatrist in the house??)

Here goes:

JLF53 wrote:Well most warrantees are voided by after market modifications.

I'm not worried about the warranty. (probably beyond it anyway) I'm worried about ease of operation & HEAT!

JLF53 wrote:I think the factual problems with things that have broken and not been manufactured properly should be posted so potential purchasers can have both sides of the story and make an informed decision.

(I've read that sentence three times & can't figure out what you mean or how that would work???)

JLF53 wrote:I would not be surprized that Devil's glass craked at a time frame coinciding with his glass cracking.

Again

JLF53 wrote:Coming from one of the largest publically held companies, customer service should reside with the manufacturer. It is unthinkable to foist your customer service off on third party business yo business dealers.

It's been one of the few common complaints about Harman that a customer couldn't talk directly with their headquarters, but had to go through a dealer. Evidently, that has now changed with the addition of this telephone number 800-664-3119 to Harman support.

Oh man........I am an idiot!!!

I forgot that jlf53 is Jane!! (now....how to not put my foot in my mouth....FURTHER)

let's give it a try:

If I had known/remembered that I was talking with a lady, I would probably have worded things differently. (not that ladies are not every bit as able to handle coal stoves or verbal altercations as men, but they are a bit more ........EMOTIONAL)
I therefore apologize Jane, for possibly being overly.........aggressive/argumentative in my earlier replies.

(I think I just made things worse! :fear: ......& this from a man with a wife & THREE grown daughters!!)

The hole you're digging is almost too deep to crawl out of already.....

by the way, what's up with a "wooden" door handle on a coal stove, I guess the handles aren't like the coiled metal like on the Mark series?

Yeah...The TLC has brass door fitting that a short wooden handle screws into. I have had no problem with mine but my daughter's husband managed to strip the machine screw on the end of theirs. It doesn't get hot as long as you have it vertical (not in front of the window) when latched. If it ever breaks I could probably jury-rig a better replacement for under $2.00 worth of parts from Home Depot.

So one goes to Detroit when you have a problem with your car?

If the dealer doesn't handle the problem in a way satisfactory to me, absolutely I go to the manufacturer.

100% Agreed! (hand fired coal stoves are pretty reliable with very few moving parts to fail anyway)
I only needed to contact my dealer once (to make sure he had a window...which I never even asked about warranty....it's glass! ) so not being able to call Harman was never a big problem with me. Now you can even call them!
