taxing miles driven

Gas Tax...Ha Ha!!
Its just dumped into that big PlayTime Piggy Bank called the 'General Fund"
You know that place where it gets "spread around"

Great idea. Take our tax money build a road or bridge or whatever. then add another tax to the taxpayer via "backdoor" "bend over baby" "Uncles Going Get ya agin"in form of "usage fee/tax" .Pay to build it. Then pay to use it...Humm sounds like the 10 ten year plan for that famous "still a toll road",The New York Thruway..But wait 40 years latter its still a tool road..Did some politician lie to us?

To hear some tell it ,here in Penna the state strapped a few cents [temporarily] on the gas tax after the Korean War for veterans aid,still there they tell me. From the politicians point of view it must mentally be almost impossible to recind any kind of tax especially after they recall all their hard work and such a difficult time ramming it thru the masses who really do not know what is good for them. The latest stroke of genius here is conversion of state route 422 into a toll road.That translates $.08 /mile to travel a road that has been already bought and paid for by taxpayers.It never retreats and it never ends.

Right now they get the tax collected and sent in for free. (We business owners do it for them) They think creating a whole new government agency to enforce this will save money? Also, a 1/4 cent per mile is a joke...tax now is about $.50 a gallon. At 25 MPG it would take two cents a mile to be the same. It's a pretty silly idea if you ask me.

From what I gathered from the radio the other day is they now have the ability to plant a tiny chip for example the inspection sticker or registration sticker in you vehicle to keep tabs on your locations past, present (nice to know) and can keep a tally on your miles driven
Massachussetts was the state I heard going to this to give rebates to "low milers" on the giant gas tax increase to offset the lifting of "some" toll fees on I90.
