I have been brushing off the back side of my damper every few days so the ash does not build up. How often do guys look at and clean yours?

usually once a month (or less) or if it starts to get out of calibration. Always good to check it though.

Easy way to do a fast clean is to lightly tap it and watch the dust blow into the pipe. A way of telling that you have a fair build up is when the ash starts weighing down the bottom side of the door, evidence of this could be when your manometer starts reading .01 or so higher all the time. That is why a full time manometer is a wise consideration IMO.

Only once so far this heating season. Manometer is still in range. Getting a little fuzzy on the back side though- glad you reminded me. :)
