President Obama's Speech-What did you think?

Whats it been a little over 5 weeks now & some people have already forgotten how the country got to this point. B.H.O. is right we need better education in this country except that education won`t help the ones that bury their heads in the sand. Common sense is a learned trait that isn`t taught in schools, if you still believe that the economy is sound then you are probably in the small percentage that might have to pay a wee bit more or heaven forbid think about doing some good for the country instead of yourself. I think it`s time we all get real & at least give this a chance. It`s easy to offer criticism without any viable suggestions.

Also, what happened to Obama NOT allowing any pork in this bill? He ran a campaign based on this and even proclaimed that he would use a line item veto to eliminate ANY pork.. well, now there are 9,000 ( yes 9,000 ) pork items in the bill ....

Examples?

Come with me and I will show you things you may not want to see or hear. First of all I heard on the hearings, Bernanke said that we have "zero inflation" well I tell ya I don't know how they figure it but I would say that they need to do a bit of shopping at the nearest grocery store before they say that one again. Have you gone in lately and bought a half gallon of ice cream, well you can't now it's 1.5 quarts. Go to the isle that they sell Bush brand baked beans you might find as I have that there are a couple of signs up saying "discontinued" and for sale very cheap, couple of days later the signs were gone and the items were all back except things where a bit different the cans were shorter, yep less can and a bit higher price. Shorter toilet paper rolls and higher price. I guess if you take into account that housing has come down to where a blue collar working man can afford a home it might offset the price increase and the size decrease of items.
I don't care who what when where, it's a crock of chit that nobody can fix, and I'm glad. Go ahead and print more money, print all you want. Go ahead and fleece the sheep since they want it so bad. I hate to say it but all I heard last night was tickling of the ears from the pulpit, I didn't vote for a Preacher I voted for a President. Yes I voted for him. Yes I'm a registerd republican. I want him to stop running for President and start being President.
They are starting to throw around some even bigger numbers that may have to be spent to fix this thing. I did a bit of searching and checking and adding, do you know that if you had the money that you could buy Germany for 7 trillion bucks, yep just a mere 7 trillion gets you the whole country. Now you do some research and checking and I bet you will be surprised how much in total we have put in this mess. Oh yes one other thing about Germany back when the wall came down, so that east and west was on the same page, governments lent vast sums of money to Germany that are now due. Just another glitch that might come up.
Hey don't forget the deficit will be cut in half very soon, now I can't wait to see this one, talk about pulling a rabbit out of your hat sheesh. Doesn't the government know nobody and I mean nobody has any money damn man.
How many bankers have you seen go to jail or even get questioned on what happened to the cash.....none. How many fired.....none how many getting bonuses...all of them, and I don't want to hear you say that there not just wait till the dust settles and they ride off in the sunset with there stock options.

Let me see if I understand the complaints about the stimulus bill:

Pretty much all economists have been saying this country desperately needs a huge spending bill. (how much did Paulson get b4 the election?...like 700 billion?)

Now that the Dems control The White House, spending is now "Pork" & suddenly is bad for America?!?
(the argument seems to be....... we desperately need more spending but........... only if we can cut out some of that.......Spending!?!


Let's see if we can have an unemotional discussion of few important points for the future of The Republican Party:

1. What exactly do the Republicans stand for? (it used to be fiscal responsibility, but after the last 8 years, no one buys that anymore)
2. By only appealing to their right wing base & pushing away moderate voters, do they really think we are so stupid that by selecting a black man as RNC chairman (Steele) that they can "trick" us into forgetting who they really are & give them power again? ( the same "Trick" used in selecting a woman as VP candidate...that worked so well )
3.Why are current poll results showing President Obama & Congressional Democrats GAINING in voter job approval opinions & Congressional Republicans Declining in voter job approval?
4. Are you happy with the current trajectory of your party & do you think it bodes well for the 2010 & 2012 elections?

The GOP has clearly gambled on its strategy which — based on these polls — is not working (yet). Obama remains highly popular, and Democrats — complaints in the ever-angry blogosphere to the contrary — seem largely happy with what they’re seeing. As do an increasing number of independents…not a monolithic block, but a vital one…and the GOP shows no signs of making significant inroads against swing voters (who are called “swing voters” for a reason).

Face it Devil. R's and D's are two wings of the same turkey. The country is $65 TRILLION in the hole when you take into account all the off book Enron accounting they do. And you are squabbling about $800 billion here and $700 billion there. Obama wants you to worry about peanuts as the elephants go by. They people who caused the problem can't fix the problem. Those people are known as "government". How would you respond if you were asked to eliminate your own job? That's what needs to be done. Less government, less taxes, less spending. Until they follow that formula, they will fail.

That's exactly what got us into this crisis. What we need is MORE intelligent, honest, accountable & responsible government....Not less.

In last nights address, the President made it clear that he was not a fan of more gov. or more gov. spending. The problems
that we face have been along time in forming, and needs to be addressed before more damage is done. So, lesser of two
evils is what I got out of the speech. Do nothing, and it gets worse for more years. Spend now, and get out of the hole
sooner.
I will give him credit for even listening to the Republicans and including them in the process to the extent they want to be.
Politically he does not need them. In light of the last 8-12 years of " F you and your mother" politics, really rather refreshing.
Like him or hate him, agree or disagree, he is taking the high road. Seems " gasp" Presidential. God Bless ALL of America

"More"?! I wasn't aware we had ANY! Are you really admitting that government knows how to spend you money better than you do? Why not give them 100% of your cash? I'll go back to Alan Keyes. "How does a bankruot government bail out a bankrupt industry?" Do you really think you can spend your way out of debt? All our income tax barely covers the interest on our current debt. What will be the result of piling more on? It's a recipe for disaster.

You first. Honestly, I was singing the same tune a year ago. I think it's a bit arrogant to acknowledge government is full of waste and graft but suggest your side is somehow different. Every few years we change to players but we never change the game. I'm saying we need a game changer. Good luck getting that from an R or a D.
