The vote is in and the next show topic has been selected:

Mid and End of Season Maintence

It ain't sexy, but the timing is good and it is a vital topic with these appliances. The show will be live Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 7:00pm EST. The link for the live stream will be posted in this thread before it starts. The recording will be posted that night sometime.

If you want a reminder email before the show click the link at the bottom of the thread to "Subscribe Topic". If you have your user preferences set for it, you'll get an email when a post is made to the thread. Since the topic is locked until 30-60 minutes before the show starts the email you get will serve as a good reminder.

Half hour until show time, the streaming server is up and running and you should hear music at this point.

For those of us burning coal for the first year, I will not be upset if you go into DETAILS, DETAILS, and more DETAILS, on shutting down for the season. Thanks :D

I found this homemade device really helpful. Tack welded a brush to the end of a 25' plumber's snake. This allows me to run it through any of the vent passages very easily. Follow up with a vacuum and you've got clean vents.

What about neutralizing and cleaning the interior of a furnace/stove at the end of the season?

LPS makes a great product that leaves a rust preventing film on ferrous surfaces, works great on the inside of the stove and burns off the next time you light the stove. I get mine from MSC Industrial supply: http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PM ... O=59469978
