Thanks for the article link, DVC500_at_last. Brought back memories from when I worked at IR in Phillipsburg NJ. It wasn't coal but they had the first diesel lokies for moving condensers and turbines around the plant an onto the mainline. Gotta talk to my dad to get more info. I worked on one of the last buildings and track lines the lokie used in the plant back in '76, he took my kids on the last trip it took thru the plant ~'92 before moving it to the rail museum. I think he was involved in disassembling another one that is in Greenfield Village, MI.

I can still hear that wee-whistle :)

It's all gone now. Glad I got to be a part of that.

We finally got up to No. 9 to see the ol' Gal. She's being painted and fixed up some, so the kids had a great time climbing all over her. It was a good day-trip. We toured the museum, then went up into the mine. Chris does a good tour, and answered all questions. I got a couple pieces of mine-run anthracite for lawn-decoration. Then we had a picnic-lunch in their picnic area. Heres a couple pics....

Hmmmm, I thought it was a Murley tour, but now I'm not sure. The 'Chris' with the pet white bat gave us the tour. :D

Chris M: He had the other Chris down there that day since he was there on a Friday. Although it is hard to tell youse two apart sometimes :P Sorry but you walked right into that one!
Chris F: Glad to hear you had a good time there. To tell you the truth I forgot you were coming down that day or else I would have met you someplace with some more mine run coal. If I'm not constantly reminded of stuff I tend to forget Chris M could vouch for that!

Mike, Not a problem, we all had a good time, and I got a couple of (expensive) large chunks anyway. I think they were the museum's display chunks, but I made a nice donation to get them :D .

I was wondering when you were going to get #40 back on track. Are you on a weekly schedule now? Need a fireman? :D
