What would Mccain have done differently so far?

What would Mccain have done differently so far?

PostBy: billlindley On: Fri Feb 27, 2009 10:07 am

It seems that for most the honeymoon with Obama is quickly coming to an end. Yes he did inherit a messy situation and no one could have changed things in a little over 1 1/5 months. This question is for all the Obama bashers. What would Mccain have done to this point that would make America any better? I don't agree with the way the Stimulus worked out and I am slowly starting to wonder if there is really "change we can believe in."

I suspect that the spending would have been smaller and more direct. Who knows?

I'm not even sure he'd have a stimulus package because his financial advisor, Phil Gramm said we were just a bunch of whiners, every thing is fine. If he was forced into a stimulus package my guess is he would not allow the temporary tax cuts on the wealthy to lapse, kept the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars off budget so his budget deficit would look significantly less than it actually is, gave the second half of the bank bailout money with no strings attached and not set a date to start withdrawing troops from Iraq.

I think Arlen Specter and Mccain are democrats dressed in republican cloths both for bigger government control and wasteful spending. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of candidates will be running in the next election.

I'm not an Obama basher like the OP mentioned by I'll agree with all of Bill's guesses & add a few:

1. He would not have renounced torture or restricted all U.S. personnel to interrogation techniques approved in the US Army filed manual.
2. Would not have extended unemployment benefits
3. Would not have instituted tax cuts for most of the middle class
4. Would not have proposed middle class tax credits for college tuition, home energy savings repairs & state auto excise & sales tax payment s.
5. Would not have replaced Condee Rice as Sec of State, Paulson at Treasury, Mukasi at Justice

He would have gone on vacation in one of his houses, removed any type of checks & balances that might still be left, given the CEOs more party money & invaded Iran. And maybe down the road he might even plan a tv spot to tell us not to worry the economy is sound.

He'd be digging the same hole Obama has only with a red shovel rather than a blue one.

When will you realize there is basically no difference between the D's & R's? The discussion's I have seen here, never revolve around not digging us further in a hole, it is always if a trackhoe or 4wd backhoe is used to dig it and what color the hoe is. It doesn't matter if a red or blue backhoe is used, the fact remains the hole is still there.

Exactly the point I was getting at.

John Adams once said, “Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There was never a democracy that did not commit suicide.” I think the 2 party system is solely responsible for the mess this country is in. Putting everything else aside can anyone truly say that they honestly believed and supported what either candidate had to say? The problem with our country, the problem we have had for a long time, is that we only get to chose between the 2 candidates that clawed there way to the nomination or took advantage of a certain feeling among the American people. We truly don’t have a choice as both parties spend to much, waste even more, and say whatever is needed to get elected. Once in office everything changes. You can talk about third party candidates all you want but the fact of the matter is I don’t see how we get away from a 2 party system. When your only offered BS in 2 different flavors you can never be satisfied.

I would hope that McCain would have said, "lets not give the money directly to the banks, but give it to the taxpayers, with stipulations to either use the money to pay back mortgage payments to aviod forclosure, or use it to pay credit card debts, school loans, car payments, etc. IF someone is fortunate to not have any of those things to pay, then let them use it towads home improvement, buying new more energy efficiant appliances, or some other similar need.

That way the money eventually goes to the banks, but taxpayers get an immediate and direct benifit as well.

But, we're talking about politicians that can't see past the pile of kickback checks and perks from special interest groups, and this idea makes too much sense.

A good start would be passing a basic civics and economics test prior to being given the "right" to vote. How much more dangerous is your vote than your operation of a vehicle? Then when a candidate tries to "promise" their way into office the voters would be smart enough to know better. Since that will never happen, the leaders our country gets will reflect the apathy and ignorance of the sheeple voting. The masses deserve what they get and the rest of the country gets sucked along in the toilet vortex.
