The 13 year old puts on a nice 4-H demonstration. Too bad W blew it so badly, because now we are swinging HARD
to the left. I thought Rush did a nice job. As far as " our hearts breaking" over the human dysfunction caused by welfare,
not really believable from this guy. It may very well be true, but sounds too insincere. More like " our wallets are breaking.."

The political problem for the conservative republicans is that they come off sounding like dicks. The third truth in life
is generally accepted as " Mean people suck...." . So, if they want to get congress back, they will need to find a way to
get there message out with out poison. It is funny to see how the republicans worship the memory of Ronald R. This guy
did everything that liberals hate, yet they liked him. "The Great Communicator" is a misnomer. He had charm and could
speak. But the biggest reason he was successful was he came of as pleasant and nice. His policies were debatable like anyones
but that did not change his popularity.
No one did more to put Obama in office than Karl Rove and his slash and burn policy. I saw it here in MA. By going negative, we ended up with the ultimate rookie, Deval Patrick. Total nube, , inexperienced, and he walked into
the Gov. office. Why? Not because he was qualified, but because " Mean people suck...." and the other candidate went negative.
I believe the Republicans can get congress back. Obama is giving all the ammo they need. The spending, regardless how well intentioned, is just really amazing in its' scale. Now if the Republicans can campaign with civility and
manners, they will get it. If not, hang on baby, because the bills are just starting to roll.

Until the Republicans start appealing to the middle again & get off this "Born Again", "Holier Than Thou" hypocritical BS, they have little hope of ever regaining real power in Washington. They are lurching even further to the right, just as the country is swinging back towards the middle & even the left again. The republican party won't come back into power until they pick up a history book. They genuflect at the mention of Ronald Reagan and tax cuts. The most admirable trait of Ronald Reagan was that he was a pragmatist.

While Reagan lowered overall taxes he most definitely raised taxes on multiple occasions. In 1980 he lowered the corporate tax by 30%. In 1981 he raised those same taxes so the overall reduction was closer to 20% because his initial reduction raised the deficit to high for him to be comfortable with.

In 1983, at the recommendation of Alan Greenspan, he doubled the payroll tax from a total of 6.4% to 12.8% total (half paid by employer and employee). The idea was to make social security solvent for the next 38 years. He wanted to use the payroll tax surplus to pay down the national debt so the country would be prepared for the surge of baby boomer retirement. Unfortunately the politicians that came after him pissed it away on the pork project of the day. (Both Republican and Democrat).

In 1986 he vastly increased the earned income credit and financed it by making unemployment comp taxable, social security taxable if you had other income, eliminated interest expense deductions for those who itemize with the exception of home mortgage interest, made the first 7.5% of medical expenses non deductible, and the first 2% of unreimbursed employee business expenses non-deductible among other things. All designed to raise taxes without actually increase the rate.

For the current crop of republicans to say Reagan stood for tax cuts at any cost is disingenuous at best. Do you know how ridiculous it sounds to cry over the expiration of Bush's temporary tax cuts to help ease the impact of the banking crisis? The tax rates will revert back to the levels of the 1990's, the longest economic expansion in American history. I think the wealthy did pretty dam good during that time.

What's left of the Republican party today sound like they are willing to crash the government, society and the economy just so they can have their tax cuts. My guess is as long as they continue to sound like spoiled little rich kids they won't be back in power.

Yeah he was for treating prescription pill abusers the same as a heroin junkie. Right up to the day he got caught buying them illegally. It's scary how entertainers like him, Hannity, Olberman, and Matthews get taken seriously. They are entertainers making a living by increasing their radio and tv ratings. That's what they're interested in, not governing.

For years I could not believe people could even watch Rush Limbaugh. But people follow those give me the money TV evangelist, Adolf Hitler and Cults. Rush Limbaugh following in my book is just that a cult. If that druggie was someone else he would be in prison for illegal drugs.

I gave George Bush two years in office but I admitted he fail me and the American people I am willing to give Obama the same time. And yes under the 8 years of George Bush I am not better off.

I am a little tired of people reaching back 30 years to put the blame on Carter. We have had 20 years for the Republicans to give us what Rush alludes that the Republicans and conservatives would do. All they really did was to put the bill for past prosperity on a credit card for us to pay for later. The Illusion of Prosperity. And maybe Obama is spending money, but hopefully we will realize the benefit not the BILL DUE we got from Gerorge W.

Until we can get people in government that don't have the whats in it for me attitude we are all screwed . I hope that kid runs for president in 4 yrs .

Hey lets go on vacation because I don't what to hear what you have to say sound familiar. All you do is point out things you don't like that have already occurred in the past to justify the mismanagement of our tax dollars at the present. I still can't believe you try to justify the misappropriation of the money by the stimulus bill when BO specifically said there would be NO EARMARKS then again he did try to redefine earmarks. I'm sorry I had my eyes open thats not playing fair is it.
