No, Bush and the freepers did. :nana:

BTW, Ed, Reagan cut taxes once but raised them 5 times. Both in size and number of departments, Reagan expanded the gov't he said he was there to shrink. Perhaps the greatest irony is that the largest federal office building in DC is named after him. :roll2: Bottom line: Ronnie Ray-guns was a genial, lazy old coot who was a virtually complete fraud on policy. But, since he was the first R pol of the post-Nixon era, you all were so hungry that you bought whatever snake oil he was selling. But, as his principles have collapsed, one by one, his stature is more and more suspect by the day. http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2001/0301.green.html

And now, as Republicans form an inward-facing circle with their rifles, the Reagan coalition too is imploding. If the GOP puts up its "big tent," the religious wing-nuts won't go in with the "baby-killers" and "homos," so I guess they won't be needing that. Meanwhile, fiscal hawks can't stand the profligate spending neocon adventure-seekers and libertarians hate the NSA spymasters. No wonder Mike Steele's having such a tough time.

Right now it seems more like wall st. is running the country. I think they have taken things to a new low, how can they lie about the amount of so called bonuses, pay them anyway, use tax-payer money to do it ? Then now its called a retention bonus & some already left? What business would want to retain the very people that drug it down? give them all a pink slip, they won`t be retained so no bonus( end of contract). I think the Reps. in both parties that are making the most fuss have the most to hide. I said from the very beginning that the tarp money was hush money.

Here's something written 2,000 years ago that fits what's going on before our very eyes and is continually excused

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Sounds familiar huh?

"Job Losses From Obama Green Stimulus Foreseen in Spanish Study"

"Subsidizing renewable energy in the U.S. may destroy two jobs for every one created if Spain’s experience with windmills and solar farms is any guide. For every new position that depends on energy price supports, at least 2.2 jobs in other industries will disappear..."

Government's view of the economy can be summed up succinctly :

If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

BO fires top GM CEO and tanks DOW -254. Hope it recovers this is definitely not good. GM shouldn't have taken the bail out it should have taken the bankruptcy and reorganized and they would have fared a lot better.
