Agreed but it's my understanding the types of facilities they have *can* be used for peaceful purposes but clearly have a use for weapons. e.g They have purchased a few pallets of ammonium nitrate and many barrels of diesel fuel to farm a small garden.

Let's say they really want nuclear weapons. What on earth can they do with them, without being annihilated as soon as they use them?

I think the trouble with that assumption is the type of people that would control them. They are actively supporting terrorist organizations, you have an Iranian president that has said in the past that "Israel needs to be wiped off the map" but I think most importantly Iran is run by Muslim clerics some of whom have been deemed radical.

Why would they need to use them? They have had their proxies fighting their war for twenty years. Why risk their treasure and lives, they can buy terrorists dirt cheap anywhere in the middle east. Definitely.

But, those rogue nations aspiring to get nukes need multiple nukes to "have at us" before MAD. I am sure they already have a bomb but they needed delivery systems and production systems to be a "power". Their primary target is Israel and US interests in the ME. They also are terrorists and will terrorize all they can with them.

The US need to take on Saddam was two fold and clearer every day: Prevent him from pursuing nukes and establishing a US foothold in the ME to take steps to prevent Iran from the same AND, to secure oil commerce and have a nearby launch point to seize control of Pakistan's nuke arsenal should it fall into radical hands. We stopped Saddam and beat Qaddafi out of the bushes. It was a good warning to Iran but they have big help (Russians) and aren't deterred.

The current hot threat is not Iran or NK but rather the Taliban infiltrating Pakistan which has become very unstable. Notice that Obama isn't screwing around in Afghanistan and is routinely bombing and raiding Pakistan border areas despite their plea not to do so.

Obama made his gesture to the now silent anti-war crowd by closing Gitmo and leaving Iraq but there is no dissention in the ranks about Afghanistan or Pakistan. The 42 to 43 briefings were probably quite sobering.


And, btw, what's one of the reasons we are doing all of this warring around the middle east? Ideology? Freedom? Stealing oil? Hell no. It's so we can keep on spending money we don't have to buy trinkets from China and cadillac health care for everyone who pokes their head under the US border fence. Don't forget it.

The concept of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) worked fine against the Soviets or any other county that will most likely make intelligent/reasoned decisions in their own interests. When dealing with most ME countries, we can be assured of just the opposite in decision making!

MAD is an accurate word for them!

Dry up the oil money and you dry up the ability of terrorists to get sophisticated weapons.

Right now oil is the most lethal fuel in history. Hundreds of thousands have died over oil in the past twenty years. More to come.

This country needs to become self sufficient in energy. This means Nuclear, solar, wind and water power, and domestic drilling. In the 1970s that was the message of Jimmy Carter and what happened, nothing. It's time to get serious.

Just remember that the Chinese stand ready and able to send us all the gimcracks we want with the money we save by not sending it to the Middle East.

So you think they're not going to make a few little dirty bombs and give them to the islam terrorists and not light them off in a few key cities around the world. What was it for they busted the last few terrorists cells in the US for. Oh thats right they're not terrorists any more as per BO's redefining a terrorist they're just misunderstood.
