So when does Iran get hit?

The Tehran government is intent on interfering in the Middle East, she told reporters aboard her flight to Brussels from the region.

"There is a great deal of concern about Iran from the entire region," she said. "I heard it over and over and over again in Sharm el Sheikh, in Israel, in Ramallah.

"It is clear Iran intends to interfere in the internal affairs of all these people and try to continue their efforts to fund terrorism -- whether it is Hezbollah or Hamas or other proxies."

Clinton repeated President Barack Obama's desire to talk directly with the Iranians, but added that "we want to make sure it's constructive."

So much for that diplomacy thingy they kept talking about during the election. I guess a dose of reality has set in?

So the question is at least in my mind is when do the Stealth bombers and tomahawks fly? Will Obama have the gonads to do it if the time comes? Maybe let Israel take a jab? You know if he doesn't they will anyway. Obviously if Iran continues down this path it's going to be a major issue as if it isn't already. So what's President to do that has campaigned on the promise of diplomacy over war when presented with a situation like this. Will he falter? Will he stand up and take the heat?

Time will tell but the but I hear a faint beat of war new drums , can you hear them?

I'm pretty sure we have told the Israelis to stay out of it, if anyone is going to pop the Iranians, it will have to be us. The problems associated with the Kosher thing would be catastrophic. IIRC the earth penatrators they received from us are not suitable for the Iranian's hardened targets, they are just too deep.

They still have time, a year or two I guess. I'm sure the plans for an attack are done and just updated daily. We need to get the Russians and Chinese to roll on them, if they stand by Iminamoodforjihad, it will be a tough call. I don't think the O man will go up against them.

Death and destruction worked so well in Iraq, now we should do it to Iran? Iran is largely a modern society like us, governed by a few nut cases just like we were for the last eight years. We are being told to fear and hate them, but can we trust the war profiteers now, any more than we should have trusted them when they dragged us into Viet Nam and into Iraq?

They are certainly on a short lease but you can bet they aren't going to sit idly by forever no matter what the U.S. says.

Lets see Iraq was shock and awe, now what do you think Iran will be, maybe dust in your butt. I think this is being played all wrong. I would of made friends with Iran helped them build the nukes and Russia would of blown them up, oh dang that kinda makes sense so scratch that one. Like I always say why do it your self when another country can do it just as good. Who ever Russia and China likes we should like twice as much, we shouldn't be the only ones having all the fun of blowing countries apart.

That's the "Stick" part. Intelligent diplomacy includes BOTH....... "Carrots" (enticement/sweet talk) AND "Sticks" (threats). Good Cop/Bad Cop..........One mode tells them the benefits of being our friend, the other threatens sanctions. You need both to work effectively. (the last administration only knew how to use the stick, so there was never an incentive presented to see it our way)
I think "Reality" has always been understood in that Obama knew he was not talking with a Cub Scout Troop when dealing with Iran. (Diplomacy kept us from having to fight a nuclear war with the Soviets, a regime who threatened to "Bury" us)

So what happens Devil when some one doesn't want to be friends no matter how many carrots you offer them?

So let's say the Iranians really just want their own nuclear power industry. They have just as much right to that as we do. Let's say they really want nuclear weapons. What on earth can they do with them, without being annihilated as soon as they use them?

What remains to worry about is that the nut-cases get control of the weapons. Think back to when Nixon was under tremendous impeachment pressure -- you don't think lots of us were worried he would go bonkers and blow up the world? Or Reagan in his later senile term when Nancy was consulting with psychics on what to do? Or putting the Pandora's Box suitcase of codes in the hands of Sarah Palin, whose religion made it a duty to bring on the End Times? Nukes in Iran are no worse than anywhere else.

But I don't think Iran hits us and admits it. It would be a terrorist attack and deny, deny, deny by Iran. I say, let Israel take care of those bastards as soon as the US is clear of Iraq. Lets sit back and watch for once. And let the world decide how to handle it.
