I don't know about down that way but when you live close to the source gettin it yourself is in most cases not worth it. I don't know what they are charging down that way but if you're close to the breaker here it's probably about $25 charge per ton more than what it would cost if you went and got it yourself.

That's $25 extra for no gas, no trailer rental and most importantly IMO dumped in window or wherever else you want it. An easy dump only takes about 10 or 15 minutes. Done deal.

Yeah, it's definitely more convenient to get it delivered. I guess my main reason for wanting to pick it up is not so much cost savings, but knowing what I'm getting. I don't know whose coal the local guys deliver. And I don't want to get stuck with 3 tons of poor quality stuff jamming by stove up all winter.

Just ordered a Hitzer 503 which was not an easy task (price and delivery). Now I'm looking to buy washed anthracite coal in or somewhere around Boston, MA.

Are there any recommendations, links, tips, e.g. to get me started? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance.

I have an Alaska Channing III ordered. Now I need to figure out where to get coal from. I've reviewed all the posts on who likes coal from who but I'm more concerned with location for picking up. I live near Hazleton PA, 2 miles from I80 & I81. I'd like to get 2-3 tons with trips in my pick up. Can anyone please provide who their happy with, phone #'s, and where exactly I can pick up from? Any help much appreciated!

While traveling east on 283 between Harrisburg and Lancaster,just a couple miles before getting to Lancaster there is a place with outside coal storage bins(concrete),recently those bins have been filling up with all sizes,rice seems to be the latest addition,no sign with the name of the business was visible from the highway,and exploring skinny back roads with a tractor trailer isn't practical,should be easy to find in smaller vehicle,just some info for those of you looking for coal closer to home. Hi, I am in Southern New Hampshire, very close to Nashua. I am going to order a tri-axle of anthracite rice (maybe buckwhweat). The load woul dbe a 24 ton load..of which I want to use 9-11. So I am looking for people to go in with me.

This is *not* bagged coal.

I am open to other idea. Please contact me at [email protected]

Is there some way to buy a trailer load of bagged coal from Pennsylvania to the Albany, New York area? How much, in tons, does a load like this represent in tons?
Thanks for you insight(s).

Mr. Pete--->

Try baggedcoal.com they sell bagged coal. They also will provide trucking and good rates to boot. Bite the bullet now and store a truckload for later. Coal prices are just going to increase.

Mr pete and others in eastern NY / western VT above Albany,

Did you try Champlain coal in Whitehall ny, They deliver, there is a mileage charge over 30 miles I believe, They go all the way up to tupper lake and deliver so Albany not that big a deal I would suppose. The dump they use holds 6 ton, you get a discount when you get more.. I get mine from here, very nice load, semi wet but not real soaked. 4 ton ran me $1010 not too bad with the discount. That was at $283 a ton and about 4 months ago.

I heard there is a new guy selling in Cambridge NY, Can't really give more info than that also He has bag variety,
