Just curious to see if LL is working any new products. Any thought to producing a simple boiler? Just a thought.

Funny you ask. Next week (3/16/09) we will be sending out the Pocono with a 110,000 BTU burner for UL approval  . This will take awhile for all the testing, so we're probably looking at sometime in May. I have been working and testing this for over a year and invested a pile of money into the casting of the new grate besides everything else. Nothing is cheap !!!!!

That's a question that the testing lab will need to answer. I'll find out.

Jerry

can you tell us more about the new model ? apart from the additional BTU - how does it differ from the older models - is it more efficient ?

thanks

Van,
Nothing is changing on the stove. It's the same Pocono that we have been using, but now it will have a bigger burner. I'm not an efficienty expert, but I can't imagine that it would raise . It will produce more heat, but it may send more heat up the pipe went burning full blast.

Would the grate work on the pioneer Jerry?. Also couldnt you just drill extra holes in the grate to gain more BTU's?..

The stove pricing has not been set yet. It needs to pass UL first. If you look at the bottom of the grate, you will see that there is no way to have more holes in that casting. The new burner will have 182 holes and a 60 cfm fan for combustion. The 90 that we presently use has 130 holes and a 45 cfm fan. Not only is the new burner wider and longer, it also has higher side rails to carry a deeper path of coal. This can only be used on the Pocono for now.

Thanks,
The new burner will be ready to market at the end of May or early June. It can only be used in the Pocono. We also sent the Power vent to have that reapproved with this model. Passed with flying colors. Approved with 1" of clearance through combustables, but we will recommend as much as possible in the manual.
