Get her a Laptop for her birthday :D  bop2
She has one & loves it! (This was my idea so that she won't have to set her laptop up in he kitchen & so she can use a wireless (full size) keyboard & mouse http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Cordless-Desktop-E ... 127&sr=8-1 & just switch the kitchen TV (LCD) from cable TV to PC monitor to use it. The laptop can stay in the den where she also likes to use it.

Hey.....Freddy's not the only forum member who can complicate very simple problems by applying complex & unnecessary mechanical/electronic solutions!! :P

VERY nice.... Great alternative. Still pricey at $220.
Dealer cost on the L130 is $136.

If you want to play you gotta pay!
You pay for convenience.
Neat and tidy mount under the cabinet.

Have you thought of adding a low-end PC to your extra monitor/keyboard/mouse and just using remote desktop? I have used tightvnc in the past and it worked very well: http://www.tightvnc.com/

Thats true! Good idea! I have used RADMIN (Remote Admin) software, and it works fantastic. Just like you are on the local computer. Its cheap, too.

If I was THINKING.....I wouldn't even be doing anything!

(my wife is perfectly happy moving her laptop around, it's just me looking for a jazzy built-in gadget for very little money spent. )

I love doing things like this!

Git it narrowed down to 2 things:

Think that would also let me switch monitors too? so I wouldn't need the VGA switch?)

With that switch, it looks like you would also need a cheap A/B switch for the monitor. But I know you don't want the 2 swithces, so you might have to use one of the two Reverse KVM switches that was mentiond eariler :cry2:

Postscript

I did get this reverse KVM switch http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N ... 6817107305 & it works great!
Let's me share one computer between 2 work stations & even has a "First come first serve" feature that automatically selects input from the currently used keyboard or mouse & defeats the other until it is used! (so 2 people could actually use the same computer at the same time with no input confusion)
Pretty cool!
Next thing I think I'll do is get this http://www.datapro.net/products/usb-dual-ps2-wall-plate.html
so I can have the ps2 & USB plugs up in the kitchen to connect to for a neat finish.

Excellent! Sounds like its going to be the clean install that you were looking for. Especially with those fancy-shmancy wall plates! Cool!
FYI..... Make sure you keep the cable lengths to minimum.

Thanks! ....I'm not sure if I'll goto the expense of that wall plate though....It alone will cost about $50.00 with the connections! :(
