My breakfast is ruined!

I'm addicted to Post Blueberry Morning cereal. It has dried wild blueberries. Yummmm. I open a new box this week and what? They replaced the wild blueberries with high bush blueberries..... yucccck! Maybe some people don't realize, but the wild ones are not only much more flavorful, they have 40% more antioxidants than the high bush blueberries. I thought "How could they do this and not tell us?". I looked on the box & sure enough, "60% larger blueberries", like that's a good thing? I phoned and complained, whoop dee do, they're going to send me a coupon. For what? I told her I can not eat them and won't be buying any more.

So....maybe some of you kind souls can do me a favor? A flavor favor? Call and complain for me! If enough people call, maybe they'll realize the mistake they made.

Express your disbelief that they thought it was a good change. Tell them they are not only less flavorful, but that they have 40% less antioxidants and those changes are why you can no longer eat them. Be polite, please. I said "They may be 60% larger, but they have 80% less flavor".

Is it still made in the U.S. or in Mexico? Be happy, they didn't replace the Wild berries with Chilis.
BTW... they also made a change to the Post Select Banana Nut crunch, It just doesn't taste the same. I liked mixing it with their Post Cranberry cereal.

Why not just get a couple of pounds of wild blueberries and add as much as you like to your cereal? The never put enough fruit in the cereal box.

Seriously, I was up visiting one year and they were burning the fields. Any idea what time of year that was? I really enjoyed the smell and would like to catch it again.

You got it, my wife buys wild blueberries from guess where Fred, Maine. Turns the milk blue but taste great.

We have a blueberry farm around the lake and u-pickem. 2 bucks per pound! last summer I picked 18lbs in 3 hrs and thanks to Zip-locks had them all winter. best ones tho were in the granite pit at Somes Sound on Mt.Dessert Island. small but great. I feel your pain Freddy. I will call and tell them the same cept maybe 82% so they wont know!!!

Yeah, one of my favorite breakfasts is blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup. I was traveling once, in Philadelphia as I recall, ordered the BB pancakes in a good hotel restaurant. They had those awful tasteless high bush blueberries and thick corn-sugar syrup. Not worth eating.

P.S. Raisin bran is about as good as the BB cereal, except for the unfortunate after-effects.

I'm thinkin' we should have an 'intervention' in Bangor area! There may be a couple Suburbans with blacked out windows in the driveway at 5AM if you don't snap out of the 'funk', freddie!

Grow the grains, pick the blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, but stay away from the 'dingle berries.' Like sugar on snow.....don't eat every chunk of yellow snow you find!!!

Heyyyy, When I told her I couldn't eat them, I was hoping that if they thought they were losing customers they might change back. Of course I have blueberries in the freezer! But, if I use them every morning in my cereal, we won't have enough to make it to next harvest. Home made blueberry pancakes with real Maine maple syrup are the Sunday treat around here. We pick enough berries each year for pancakes once a week and muffins once a month. Our freezer won't hold enough for every day!

They burn the berries at the beginning of growing season. Do you know why? Because it prunes them. When the tips are burned off, they divide and more tips grow....more tips, more berries. Almost all berries are still hand picked. The ground is so rough and rocky machines can't do the job. About 30% are picked by machine. The rest are hand picked by high school kids and seasonal foreigners.

I can see that we have a new purpose for your wind mill: power up your new walk in freezer that will be large enough to store TWO complete seasons worth of blueberries for EVERYDAY usage. At least they can't tax the excess usage of a breakfast treat like muffins or fruit.....or is there a need to call out the militia for a series of random 'drive-by fruiting' attacks. I've loved firing my 'spud gun', but don't have a handle on the caliber and type of weapon need for the 'drive-by fruiting'. This forum will solve this dilema by morning I hope.

At least they are blueberries. I bought one of my kids some oatmeal with "strawberries" and foolishly neglected to read the ingredients. He did it for me and asked why there weren't any strawberries listed

Turns out the 'strawberries' were dried pieces of apple dyed red.

So would you be usin' grapeshot in that spud gun?

I remember camping up at Bar Harbor & picking those suckers for hours -- nothing tastes like them.

I have 7 hi- bushes in my yard -- they'll make berries the size of a quarter!! But compared to those Maine ones, they don't taste like much. Gotta figure out how to make blueberry whiskey!
