I too added a Hitzer bi-metal thermostat to my Harman Mark II.
It provided more consistent air to the fire and I believe it saved me about a ton of coal a year (6.5 down to 5.5 tons per year).
Even if it saved me nothing it was worth it because how much easier it made to keep an even fire going all day long.

My Harman is going to be for sale as soon as I install my new Tarm boiler.
I'll be selling it with the Hitzer controller and with the hot water loop. So if someone wants a Hitzer controller this may be just the ticket for you!
