Who is online?

Who is online?

PostBy: brckwlt On: Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:16 pm

I dont understand this. some please explain?

In total there are 26 users online :: 11 registered, 6 hidden and 9 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)

why would 6 people be hidden? are these registered users or guests? and if your a registered user why hide your online identity? this makes no sense to me what so ever

Makes you think someone is watching your every move doesn't it? We all seem to have a govt puppet with his/her hand massaging our prostates when we least expect it. How's that 'easy pass' technology working for you? How about the fact that when you do any bank transaction a grand or larger it's reported. Ever walk out of the bank with a check you just cashed for 5K? Yup, you're on transponder frequency for the 'drone' flying overhead. You can't seem to get away with anything without a digital pic having been filed away somewhere......and you were worried about what....why hide your identity?????????

Moved this to the feedback forum...

-------------------------------------

One thing to note about the "who is online" is that it's not a live count. It's a count of how many people have loaded a page within the last 5 minutes. If you don't view a page in 5 minutes you're offline... The "Guest" number is simply all the unique IP's added up.

Members may hide their online presence for various reasons, the reason you see so many hidden is that search engine bots like Google are "registered" members and I have their status set to hidden. It's actually one thing I have on long list of things to fix so they simply don't show up at all in the online list. It's a standard feature on phpBB and I'm not really sure why... In any event members can't hide their online status from moderators and they show up intalics. Here's a sample, the two regular members are blacked out but you'll note the bots are listed.

This is a very good question....If you look at who is on line and who is posting.... "all the time" like a troll, (supernatural being who lives underground or in caves).

We all know...

Personalty I hide my online status because I tend to leave my computer on all day here, even when I'm not physically here.

Because they were hidden, if you chose to hide your presence would you be happy about me posting it here?

Makes no difference you go offline after 5 minutes of inactivity, it's not a live count. You need to load at least a page every 5 minutes to stay "online". Simply leaving the forum open in a browser window does not achieve that.

If you look at forum members that are hidden all the time, they have an empty entry in the viewing profile under "Last Visited".......

I hear ya brckwlt! something really tells me alot about a person with whom there is a current discussion going with and I look and see them hidden, yet the activity is just seconds in between. often times those posters are not ones i would wanna go fishing with anyway. thats just not this board but most. It is just people who kinda stand in the background and shout obsenities or something. I go on and off line many times a day but never hide from nobody, not even chuck norris!! :)
