Sen. Dodd Admits Adding Bonus Provision to Stimulus Package
Sen. Chris Dodd says Treasury forced him to add language to the stimulus bill last month that specifically excluded executive bonuses included in contracts signed before the bill's passage.

Here's the video...he should be removed from office today. If any of us lie at work, we'd be fired. Why not him?

Not surprised, just disgusted.
I've said it from the beginning. This house of cards they have built is going to topple and reveal to the sleeping US sheep what is really going on. Many will defend and ignore it, but some will come to their senses and act.

On Tuesday he said he had not written the languge...yesterday he said he did. Of course he was put under pressure by the Treasury, or so he says, not that it matters. He was clearly caught in another lie....like Countrywide Mortgage deals.

He's a scumbag, always has been, his polling (before this happened) was his lowest of his career. With this....Rob Simmons former Rep. US Congressman 2nd District CT. stands a great chance at de-throning the Corrupt-o-Crat. Time will tell, Liberals in general have a penchant for sleazy politicans, it's like a badge of Honor.

He should be fired just like anyone in a political office(any & all parties). Trouble is they are all guilty & they write the laws so what can be done?

Wow, such outrage over amendments inserted with no opportunity to read the final bill before voting! :cry2:

Where were you guys when the Republicans were doing the self-same thing when they had the reins?

I'm not excusing it, just noting that, once again, the GOP has no cred screaming about a process they abused for years when they had the upper hand.

While you'll get no argument about hypocrisy from me. I will say the Moral equivalence on the Stim-Pak and some bill that may have been fast-tracked with Republican support in the past is quite a stretch. Nothing of this scope and scale has ever been voted on with such inadequate time to debate it in US history.

The outrage is over the the 180 degree turn around within a 24 hour period in how it made into the bill. Sen. Dodd obviously tried to cover how that happened and must have realized it wasn't possible so had to come clean so to speak.

I think the message has been received that people have had about enough of the secret law-writing.

Hopefully, some procedural good will come of it.

I think Term Limits would go along way to bring about the procedural good you speak of.

Don't think it's gonna happen, Dev.

But changes in the conference rules are realistic in the circumstances, it seems to me.

Can anyone explain how the Founding Fathers, who were so brilliant on everything else, have missed term limits??? :( :(

The founding fathers would be the first to concede their own fallibility. After all, they designed a system which didn't solve the slavery problem and led directly to a giant Civil War in exactly "four score and seven years." (Actually, four score and five; the Gettysburg address was in Nov 1863.)

Term limits will require a Constitutional Amendment, which will test Justice Scalia's hypothesis that the Constitution, when it doesn't fit modern values, can "just" be amended....

We already have term limits in place.... it is called "vote the bastards out". But no one ever does. It is a shame, considering that the Founding Fathers looked at being a Congressman as a pain in the ass and a sacrafice. It was never meant as a career path with pension benefits that these crooks wrote into it.

This house of cards is starting to come crashing down, and when its over, there will be a lot of pissed off people hopefully looking for retribution. The crooks in Washington are going to be running scared when the truth finally sinks in with most of America. Bonnie Frank will have a barrel of a shotgun rammed into his orifices, instead of his Page of the day. The "Patriot" act will be used to go after the true patriots (the government will label anyone who believes in restoring the Constitution a terrorist) to try and protect the politicians way of life.

We live in scary times, but it will be fun.
