Does 'ice out' occur before July 4th? ;)

Doug, it actually got to 54* yesterday!! Seen a couple of Harley's out riding! Still plenty of snow sledders out too. Ice out on the lakes usually doesn't happen til the first or second week of May. The rivers let go in April. It's 24* right now. Should be in the 40's today. Burning about 50lbs of the black stuff per day.

The K-6 is right on track! Now all we have to do is find you a supplier to get the rice through. I know that the EFM website shows dealers near you that are in the farming business, so logically they must deliver spuds down the east coast and we know they don't come home empty. Also I see a bunch of TT units hauling lumber down from your way and they must bring something back.......any way, now you can tell the wife that you are only burning 50 lbs a day with a straight face. We all should be happy that oil prices are down and staying that way for all the folks that don't burn coal. The pain in this economy would be much worse if it were not for the 1.69/gal for #2 currently. You have the Irving refinery up the road a piece, are they helping out the folks in Maine at all?
It's been over 35 years of me burning anthracite, and oil was 79.9/gal when I started, coal was $92/ton delivered. What goes around, comes around! Let's hope the economy improves for everyone, and the manufacturers get caught up before the weather changes back in 8 months.

It would be interesting to have a thread about the 'longest wait from Order day to Delivery'. :eek2:

I have about 1,200lbs of rice left. Will go back to oil until late fall. That's August here! I have a coal supplier a couple of miles up the road (trucking company). It's funny how the price of diesel is the lowest it's been in about 4 years and the freight charges are the same as last summer. WTF? #2 oil here is $2.19. Just topped off last week and got another 100 gallons in my garage tank for my tractor. I'd rather use #2 in my tractor instead of paying the local price of $3.02 for diesel. I don't know if uncle Irving has helped anyone lately. I'm sure he has.

I just realized that we are on a serious thread drift. Sorry Mr. Mayor
