Devil... " Welcome to the Republican party."
I understand the sentiment/irony Richard & appreciate your intention but I don't feel the Republican Party is a group that truly stands for anything anymore... except greed, hypocrisy & self-interest & would certainly not welcome my kind, nor I feel any member of this forum. The Republican Party today is the exclusive party of rich, white men who attend the proper church, belonged to the proper fraternity (Skull & Bones) & pretend to still be something they haven't been in about 50 years.
Getting back to the topic though, I was tired last night when I wrote my earlier statements, so I guess I was just "Firing from the hip" but........I still stand behind what I said: That killer deserved to have justice exacted...on the spot.....immediately.....& with no fanfare by the remaining officers. As in warfare occasionally (not the Hollywood type warfare of movies & fantasy, but the real thing).......sometimes surrender should not be an option to a person who has committed a particularly heinous act.Example:
During the Battle of the Bulge, German SS troops slaughtered a bunch of surrendered American GI's at a place called Malmedy: Malmedy massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Malmedy massacre refers to a war crime in which about 90 unarmed American prisoners of war were executed by their German captors. The massacre was committed on December 17, 1944 by
Kampfgruppe Peiper (part of the 1st SS Panzer Division)In my opinion, these SS troops deserved nothing more than immediate execution...on the spot...for their crime, & I think the same can be said of yesterday's shooter..
Am I proud of my feelings?...No
Do I agree that this type of justice is rarely justified & very dangerous to a society?....Yes
Have I ever exacted "Instant Justice" like we are debating?...No
Would I have shot the bastard.....In a heartbeat!
