2009 Tea Parties

Hi everyone,

I just got back from the DC Tea Party - a good time was had by all! The paper is reporting 1000 attendees but I think there was a lot more than that over the day. It's hard to tell because there were a lot of folks coming and going over the lunch hour. It was raining the whole time but people just kept "dropping" by.

I don't have any pictures because of the rain but there a lot of eye catching signs and costumes; my favorite sign "Obama - One, Big, A$$, Mistake, America!" Another "I'll keep my freedom and my money. You keep the change!" One local politician was giving out pork products to eat, i.e. pork rinds and slim jims instead of spending pork. Surprisingly, no one I saw knew what pork rinds were; I guess they were from the northern suburbs. :D The "right wing radicals" in attendance were upscale as protestors go.

All in all it was a good experience and hopefully when taken with the some 750 other Tea Parties across the nation the high spenders in Congress will remember that the 08 election was only won 53/47 - not an overwhelming mandate by any means. I heard talk today from some Democrats that maybe this was a bad day for the Democrats; that the Tea Parties have "awakened a sleeping giant," the silent majority of Conservatives - not Republicans, Conservatives. If you don't know the difference between the two, you need to read "Liberty and Tyranny," by Mark Levin. Today is was a great step forward in reclaiming our country. Lisa

Good job Lisa. I went to mine too. Pretty good turn out. Between 1000 and 2000 anyway. I don't think that many people turned out when they closed the banks back in'91!

Big turnout for little RI. I was surprised considering this is a one party state (D).

If I'd known you were going Stephen, we could have met up. There is another scheduled for July 4th. Maybe we'll have a chance then.

My wife and i stumbled onto the one at City Hall in NYC while in town yesterday. There were a couple thousand folks but nowhere near the number which the police and barrier presence obviously had planned for.

And plenty of those were like us, there to see the freak show -- which, in NYC, was Newt. He was "on his way" when we left.

Meh.

But take heart, all you freepers: Gov Rick Perry is starting to talk "Texas Secession," so maybe there's a place for you to move. And, hell, you could take your guns and use 'em down at the river! Win-win!

If Puerto Ricans and Domicans start crossing the Texas border, you better recheck your "You are here" map. And btw, Puerto Ricans are American citizens.

TVB, run down to Home Depot, buy the biggest crowbar they got and try to get the twist out if your panties. And if you think only Mexicans come across the border, check again. There are thousands of "OTM" (other than Mexican) coming across the Rio Grande. Last I checked, Texas didn't border Asia but plenty come through that way. Also, I'm well aware of PR's territorial status. I say we make them a state. No reason they should have representation in Congress and not pay taxes while D.C. has to representation but DOES pay taxes.

Wouldn't be any reason to be a member of this fine forum if we moved to Texas, we'd need to belong to an A/C forum instead. Then who would keep you left-leaning folks in line? :D

Believe me, the thought had occurred to me. 8-)

But, really, Tejas is wingnut heaven: guns, fellow wingnuts and people to shoot at, all in one big place.

But there is only so much heat one can stand when sitting on a motorcycle and only so many clothes that can be removed before you're arrested. I'd better stay where I am.

Besides, I like the round about way some of you argue.
