I just got back from the DC Tea Party - a good time was had by all! The paper is reporting 1000 attendees but I think there was a lot more than that over the day. It's hard to tell because there were a lot of folks coming and going over the lunch hour. It was raining the whole time but people just kept "dropping" by.
I don't have any pictures because of the rain but there a lot of eye catching signs and costumes; my favorite sign "Obama - One, Big, A$$, Mistake, America!" Another "I'll keep my freedom and my money. You keep the change!" One local politician was giving out pork products to eat, i.e. pork rinds and slim jims instead of spending pork. Surprisingly, no one I saw knew what pork rinds were; I guess they were from the northern suburbs.
All in all it was a good experience and hopefully when taken with the some 750 other Tea Parties across the nation the high spenders in Congress will remember that the 08 election was only won 53/47 - not an overwhelming mandate by any means. I heard talk today from some Democrats that maybe this was a bad day for the Democrats; that the Tea Parties have "awakened a sleeping giant," the silent majority of Conservatives - not Republicans, Conservatives. If you don't know the difference between the two, you need to read "Liberty and Tyranny," by Mark Levin. Today is was a great step forward in reclaiming our country. Lisa
