Just bought a gibralter insert had been out in the weather. Has any one seen an insert with a square 8x6 flue opening? and no place for a damper? any ideas on puting a damper on? thanks

Something like this? I had it made at a sheet metal shop for 60 bucks.

thats about what it would be but no side opening. and I have to figure out how to put a damper and rod on it.

I know nothing but that looks like a hopper opening not a flue opening. :?: Pretty darn big for a flue as well.

No other opening on this stove..thats the flue..Anyone have a picture of a damper for a gibralter insert. ? if all else fails I well have some legs welded on it and sell it for a free standing stove. this heaterhas only burned wood never seen coal. the grates and fire brick is like new.

How about an adaptor like acesover's with one round collar facing up to the chimney flue and another round collar on the side of the adaptor to accept a barometric damper :?:

I think you got a good deal on that heavy duty adaptor shown in the link above. I do some fabricating for myself and know something like that takes time to build. :)

would it be safe puting a barro inside the fire place enclosed.

How would you get to it to adjust it?

This one's got me, but I don't know that much. What is the size of the opening?

For your reference this is a Gibraltor manual, although it does not show the model you have.

the only thing I can do is have a piece made like acesover but flush with the top of the stove and put a hand damper into it and run a rod just on top of the stove thru the surround to turn the damper.only if I have enough clerance.

I took the surrond off and put a hand damper on.
