Congressman Payne...SOMALI VISIT...

It sounds like I almost lost my Congressman !
His departure from Somalia was punctuated by MORTAR FIRE !!
But appears now that he is safely on his way home...

I guess these are the upstanding Somali Officials that he visited with
http://www.somali-gov.info/

The Somali's believe with some logistical support and and supervision to its "NAVY", they could deal with the piracy issue!
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... -voa11.htm
"Logistical support" ...er that would mean supply "SHIPS" The Somali NAVY has "0" (Zero,Zed) ships...
Then of course the "SUPERVISION" they seek would be to have to insure that the "PIRATES" didn't claim their "NAVY"S" new SHIPS!

Mighty dangerous place to be, until there's a functioning gov't.

Ask the Congressman who went to Jonestown. I mean, ask his ghost.

Kind of a dumb move on the Congressman's part if you ask me. I hope he feels like he accomplished something besides getting mortars lobbed at him.

Congressman Payne (D) is pretty good guy, last time we rubbed elbows they were on the BAR. But he's somewhere north of 70 years old now.

I wonder if he was there because it was clear that Barama COULD NOT GO THERE.
And you are correct, I don't understand what he could accomplish, other than take notes on the situation on the ground.

It seems the Somalies are seeking to establish a NAVY, which of course they can't support.
Drydocking is dragging a boat up the beach....

To my way of thinking, they should be able to control the their SHORELINE more easily than the vast OCEAN.
They can't keep mortars away from the AIRPORT...There's a wee bit of room for improvement...
