Coal Trol Versions on current OEM Leisure Lines

Coal Trol Versions on current OEM Leisure Lines

PostBy: Uglysquirrel On: Fri Apr 17, 2009 9:01 pm

I've been really interested in the Leisure Line series and was wondering what Coal Trol version comes with the current 3/09 leisure Line Pocono/Pioneers?

There is Standard, Standard+ (Energy Star), Advanced, Advanced + (Energy Star) at the Automation website, different thermostats & it seems different controllers are noted.

I'm kinda burning up here trying to understand all this though I need to review the Automation website more. Any baseline comments on the Coal Trol Versions above ? don't need to be toooo technical but if needed we can always go there.

Thanks, Ugly

I burned hand feds for about 30 years. I got a Leisure Line Pioneer
this Feb. Here is what I know about the Coal Trol. You plug it in, you set
the day temperature, the night temperature, the time. Chuck in a coal
mouse, light it and forget it. Put in coal and take out ashes. It's the
best move I ever made. If you feel chilly and need a little more heat,
just bump up the thermostat. It holds + / - one degree. It's like a real
furnace that you can snuggle up to like a wood stove.

I have a BV Pioneer delivered summer of 2008. Fabulous machine. I believe control is the TS2 version. The stove is
simple and HOT. The control works like a charm. Wish I knew about coal and LL years ago. I would not loose sleep
over edition details. Buy one you will be happy.

The factory installed Coal-trols on Leisure Line stoves have the same thermostats that we sell for retail (TS2 or TS2ES) but the control module is not the same as our retail products. For stove manufacturers like Leisure Line we have a "plate" version of the control module that has all the capabilities of the retail control boxes but in a cheaper form that is appropriate for stove manufacturers to better integrate the controls into their stoves. We do not sell these plate versions of the control modules for retail sale because they have exposed electronics and are not electrically "safe" or physically protected unless installed properly into a stove/enclosure. Our retail boxes are enclosed boxes with standard outlet type plug receptacles and cords and the rest to make it electrically and physically safe for general consumption.

The features of the configuration installed on almost all Leisure Line stoves is equivalent to a Coal-trol Digital Standard.

Thanks for all the great posts and the details from PV, I was very impressed with the stove at the dealer. After hearing all the great things about the LL series, I really excited to try this baby out. Now to put the handfed to sleep for awhile (until I retire). Thank you.
