I been using single wall pipe on the outside as a temp and now I got duravent 4" pipe.
My question is can you use this pipe for the outside pipe?
The reason that I say this is the clean out T wont slide into the wall term. It will slide in but the flow sticker is not right and the clean out end would not be pointing down.
There is a lip inside the clean out pipe and its stopping it from sliding in the pipe from the wall term.
The book says to use a type L pipe and I thought that this pipe was type L?
The single wall pipe seemed to work good but it was only a temp until I got this other pipe.
My other question is that if I run one piece of 24” and one piece of 36” that would give me a 60” pipe going up the side of my house. The reason that I want to do this is to get some of the smell away from the house better and try to get it up in the air more.
I don’t see this being a problem running more pipe then they say you need but someone told me that it might draw too much since this is a direct vent?
I can post picks if it would help of the clean out pipe if it would help.
Thanks for your help.
Matt

Hi Matt, The Type 'L' pipe screws together. The Term from Harman on mine did not have any 'threads' so I pushed the short side of the 'T' into the Term, and held it in there with self-tapping sheet metal screws. Yes, it doesn't matter how tall or short you make the vertical peice. Heres a pic of mine.

My T (home store variety) slid over the wall plates inside pipe, held in with sheet metal screws.

DVC, looks like your T is connected to the outside pipe? 4" pipe is stated. If so, did you use larger pipe and why? I thought the space between the pipes had to be open?

As far length, I was told not to by my dealer; something about the stated length is specifically right for the direct vent stove.

I used 4" Type "L" Duravent. It all fit together by screwing the sections together, similar to black pipe. The short side of the "T" Slid into the Wall Term, but the wall Term did not have threads to accept the Type "L" pipe, so I used 3 sheetmetal screws for that connection.

Where I have the red arrows is where the pipe wont connect to the term.
Its got a lip and wont slide over this lip.
This is why I don’t understand why this duravent pipe will work?

The Duravent pipe doesn't "Connect" to the Term. Just slide it into the Term as far as it goes (maybe 1") Then use 3 sheet metal screws to hold it on.
Sorry, I cannot remove my 'T' for another couple of weeks, but I'll get you a pic of mine as soon as I can. Here is a close-up of the outside of it.

I was going to cut a couple slits in the term pipe and taper the pipe alittle so the duravent would slide all the way in?
I don't see why this wont work but I hate to cut slits in this pipe and taper it.
I know running my single wall pipe its getting hot and I am some what woried about how hot it will get when I am running this guy on high in the winter.

Cant comment on the fit problem but my pipe is single wall, ran all winter without issue. What are you worried about? Maybe I need to go to double wall pipe!?

Hi Matt, I finally broke the stove down for cleaning and summerizing. Here are the pics of the Duravent "T" connected/disconnected from the Harman Termination. Notice, that I painted all exposed parts of the pipe a brown color, but the section of the "T" that was inside the wall term is still its original black color. That shows you the "T" slid into the wall term a full 1 1/4". I did not have to do any modifications.
