What's Your Prediction????

Hello Everyone, Would like to know what your prediction's are for the price of oil and electric for this upcoming heating season, Are they going up or will they be lower? If you say up , guess what price per gallon heating oil will be or for electric what the price of kw will be. We will see how it turn's out !

I predict LP, Oil, and Electric will cost more per BTU of heat, than coal will. Hows that for going out on a limb?

Thank You DVC500!!, You just made me feel better about the 10 ton of coal i just bought!! I went out on the limp trying to explain to the better-half that what i am doing is going to save us alot of money on heating bill, I hope it work's cause if it dont i'am going to be spending the winter in the dog box with the dog!! What the heck- wont be the first time and surley wont be the last!! All kidding aside i think when this winter come's and the house is real nice and toasty with the coal burner going,,, I might even get lucky!! Hopefully it wont be with the dog!!

For oil do you want price per barrel or the price for home heating oil? and KWH vary greatly depending where you live. Also the price the give you to compare on your bill doesnt include the distribuation charge, transmission charge, transition charge, or the generation charge, as per my PPL bill. I came up with .144369 cents per KWH right now with all that factored in. BGE electric in reisterstown is .1695 KWH MY NG is sunbury is $1.465 a CCF and in reisterstown its 1.322 a therm. I know for a fact My NG company in sunbury is raising their rates in spet/oct 12% they have told us. so thats how i know it should be about $1.64 a CCF

My guess PPL electric for heating season 09/10 .150 KWH
Home heating Oil $2.50 a gallon
Gasoline 2.30-2.60 a gallon
NG $1.64 CCF
coal anthracite 35 dollars a ton

Hello brckwlt, Thank You for your prediction, on the oil i would like to know what you all think price per gallon will be, the electric let's go buy kwh's on the average.

Prices will be slightly higher that this past winter for all fuels. Coal prices will be stable, and don't wait too long to commit to reasonable quotes. For my 39th years burning coal, I'd bank on SSDD in the energy field. Thank God I've got some friends in PA............Heating oil got down to $1.51 in Jan! Propane stayed around $2.40. Do the math........

Think about getting together with a fellow coal burner and go for a trailer load of bulk, or a trailer of bagged.
A coal yard CO-OP just might be a great solution. I'd participate...I'm already in for two TT loads of bulk anyway.

My prediction is I put in a coal boiler. No matter what the cost of oil is, I'm heating with coal.

Surely it would be more warm and comfortable to curl up next to the coal stove!! You will probably have to fight the dog for a spot though!

I predict the price of coal to remain relative to other fuels like it has for the last 75 years.
I know I'm going out on a limb with this one.

Since I have 11.5 tons of coal in my yard and no coal stove to burn it in yet, I predict I will burn coal this coming winter if I get a boiler by then. I year and waiting next month.

Wow Kevin, good thing coal doesn't go bad. You'll be able to burn it eventually. I waited 8 months for my DVC-500, and the dealer says there is now 1 1/2 YEAR wait on new orders

Hello Kevin, Having that much coal to burn i would be looking for any type of used coal stove just to have around and be able to burn with in case you dont get the boiler in.

Nah, I am not going to a hand stoker or a hot air stove. I have an old boiler in place that is best used for wood but I burned nut and stove coal in it for 5 years. I just have 11.5 tons of rice sitting there. It will not go bad. And the price is likely to go up so I am still ahead.

Ab-so-lutely correct! ANY coal you buy now, is money in the bank, that is earning interest
Its like buying FOREVER stamps 2 years ago, when the cost per stamp was alot less. Another increase is on its way (my wife works for the local post office)
