Arlen Specter Changes Party

Good riddance, Arlen. I never liked your politics. I never counted you among the republicans. You never voted with them on major conservative issues. No republican coul ever count on you. You relished your swing vote power and abused it. Now you will be powerless in the democrat heap. They won't trust you either.

Mike, you'll be amused, I'm sure, to hear that Pat Buchanan said this morning, at the end of Morning Joe on MSNBC, that the Republicans had "gotten rid of a headache, and the Democrats gotten one."

Mike,

Your mistaken they'll love him He's always been a RINO and 99% of the time he voted yes for democrat bills. I wrote to him and Casey to not vote for the porkulus bill so it's no surprise to me. Does WEASEL ring any bells. He'll fit right (I mean radical left) in.

they should take John McCain while they are taking liberal republicans. We dont need him either. Id give up all republicans who consider them selves a "moderate" . If your a moderate, in my opinion it just says you dont stand for anything and dont have the balls to stand up for anything

Let the headaches begin.

Reid's Specter deal stirs senior Dems' anger.

"Several Democrats are furious with Reid for agreeing to let Specter keep the seniority accrued over more than 28 years as a Republican senator. That could allow him to leap past senior Democrats on powerful panels - including the Appropriations and Judiciary committees."

Look, the simple fact is that, whether or not there are some bruised egos, seniority-wise, any Democrat would be delighted to take the deal. Good God, as soon as Norm Coleman runs outta gas, it's the holy grail, the 60th vote!

Sure, Arlen's always been sort of a prickly PITA. I remember when he ran as a Republican against a Democratic Philly DA when he was still a Democrat! But now he's a PITA for my side. If you wingnuts didn't like him before, you'll just love him now.

Boy, that's loyalty for ya, all to save his seat. The dems shouldn't crow about gaining this one, they should be like thanks but no thanks.

For Arlen, what this was about was reelection, and he's admitted that.

For the Dems, it was about having him in their caucus, immune from GOP retaliation.

Arlen's well known to be a PITA, that's not gonna change. But he's a Philly boy; Pat Toomey will never beat him statewide in the general.

Actually, I hope the nutbag right keeps talking trash, so we can get Snowe and Collins.

Glad to have him. And Chris Shays too.

The GOP is, quite literally, a negative filter for talent.

More proof that there is NO difference between D's & R's. They can change teams without changing their positions.

Uncle Arlen switches back and forth to suit HIS selfish ambition, NOT to serve the people and the D's are happy to have such a selfish whore.

If he was really so unhappy with the R's, he should be equally as unhappy with the D's and should be an Independent right now. But that wouldn't get him re-elected and allow his continued suckling at the public teat. Good to see the D's are happy to have him, apparently he fits right in.

He is a poster boy for term limits, over 30 years.....are you kidding me!! Think about it, his job for more than 30 years has been to run around PA campaigning for re-election, trading parties on occasion to make it easier for him. Good to see the D's are happy to have him, apparently he fits right in.

You guys occupy your time watching the distraction while the magician makes the lady disappear. Start paying attention to the real issues and the "change" that needs to happen with respect to the role of the Federal Gov't, the money system, sovereignty of borders, foreign policy, etc rather than fighting about how "different" the D's and R's are....when they are not.

Funny, but the case can be made that, as much of a PITA as he is, Arlen's exactly what a politician should be: he represents his constituents in PA, not either party in DC.

You'll see; Toomey'll get the nomination and Specter will squash him like a bug in the general.
