Harman VF 3000
I am looking at a VF 3000. looked really well built. I want to buy it it cost 4200, but the problem is I don't have the clearence in my basement height wise plus I would need to put in a $2200.00 chimney. What I am thinking of doing is putting it in my detached garage and running lines into the house just like a owb. would that work? my garage is uninsulated. Would I have to insulate part of my garage? What I would have to do is have a circulator run all the time to my oil boiler in the house. Any Ideas let me know

That will work and insulation you add would be beneficial. One thing I will point out is check you're local building codes. I'm pretty sure you can't do that if the garage houses a car...
well I cant fit a car in the garage it is more less a shop and storage area. In time I a looking to build a larger garage. Where I live in a rural area you could get away with that know one would know the diference. Not sure why parking a car in there would make a difference, Would that be the same as just haveing caol boiler in there or wood furnace to heat the garage. I know you are not allowed to do that in a licensed auto repair shop.

Code is worried about gasoline spills. Coal has a flame that never goes out. Spill a gallon os gas & an hour or so later....KA-BOOM!
well I don't store gas in there, I have a storage shed for my mowers and generator. nothing goes in my garage just to give you an idea of the size of my garage it is 18 x 18. no new full size car or truck will fit in it. it is strictly a wood shop and where I hold my tools. by the way how many tons of coal should I go through? My dealer said between 3.5 and 4.5 to heat my home in upstate NY.
