You guys must be very patriotic since you are willing to pay the taxes these companies avoid by having an off shore mailing address.

Absolutely right TVB.......These loopholes are just tax dodges for corporations that require the rest of us to take up the slack & pay more taxes to cover their tax savings.

No...Your mortgage interest is a tax deduction that benefits you & your country. Paying pennies on the dollar in the Cayman Islands helps no one but the corporations, & those saving are not passed on as lower prices to U.S. consumers. It's a loophole, which is just a polite euphemism for scam. It hurts our country both in lost taxes & in lost jobs.

These american companies that operate overseas did what any intelligent business person would do. They figured out they can make products cheaper and sell more if they make them overseas so thats what they did. Now in return you can buy that product for less money thus benefiting you.

The only person obama is looking out for is himself and govt in this big lie of closing tax hole loops. The only person to benefit from higher taxes on corporations is obama and the govt. You will never see any of those tax dollars that they steal from these businesses. If you like lying to yourself go ahead but i wont be that stupid to believe that if obama taxes a big company that ill reap the benefits of that.

so yes having our companies head over seas greatly benefits every single american there is because they have to pay less when they go to the store for that product or service.

What was it that Warren Buffet said? "66,000 lines of tax code and every one is so SOMEONE doesn't have to pay taxes."

Also, "The woman who empties my waste baskets pays a higher tax rate than I do."

We can't get them to decide whether or not water boarding is torture, I'm not going to hold my breath on tax reform.

the dems want to act like some big hero trying to get the american peoples tax money back when they are the ones who wrote most of these tax laws that allow corporations to take their businesses overseas and get out of these taxes.

you cant have your cake and eat it to.

Lets not forget this is coming from the man who has never voted no on any new tax that was proposed when he was in office.

That is one school of thought, with which I simply disagree. I think that if you put your arguments on one side of a scale & the lost American jobs (& thus American worker's income) & lost corporate taxes on the other side of the scale that my side would out way your side by quite a margin. Simply two legitimate arguments that I think Obama has made his opinion known in regards to.

brckwlt wrote:And what do you do with all of those taxes. You add up all of those taxes add them to the daily cost of running your business and come up with prices for your services based on your daily operating cost plus all of the taxes you pay. If you get axed more, you have to raise your prices for your goods and services. It just common sense.

so yes you do pay taxes, but those taxes are passed onto the consumer when the use your goods and services

Yes my point is that corporations do in fact pay taxes, your right. If our taxes get raised it makes it harder to stay in business. What do we do with all of those taxes you ask? It does affect our overhead and our rates go up and we become less competitive with foreign companies. We cant always pass it along so it make us less profitable. Our customers are other businesses as well. If they can get things made cheaper elseware they will. Or maybe we would be forced to layoff employees. I havent let that happen in twelve years and hope I never do. One thing that people should know is that most businesses are like mine. Just mom and pop shops with people trying to get ahead. We are the ones who take risks and put our homes on the line to start a business. We employ 12 people with meaningful jobs and it's a nice clean and lean modern facility. If we dont stay in business 12 people will be out of work. Taxing the snot out of businsess is not going help create jobs or stimulate the economy.

But eventually, you have to make that decision right? Either eat the cost increases or start cutting people. That's what the left doesn't understand about taxes. You just can't tax. As a nation, we're just cutting our own throat.

And I feel for you. A good friend of mine, who I USED to do die making for, is essentially out of business. 20 years gone. All his guys were let go long ago. He's surviving on a couple small production jobs he's had since day one and restoring cars/building hot rods on the side.
