180/ton from a dist. about 30 miles away. or 65/ton is I make the 400mile round trip to the source.

If I pick up 3 tons at a time, I have saved 180 bucks. even after fuel. Need to figure out how to get a 5 ton load. I would be set for the whole season, as well as saved a whole lot.

Are you using bit or subbituminous? As far as I know there are no anthracite deposits out your way.

sub mostly.

I can take a 30min drive and pick up chunks of bit, takes me about an hour to fill two 55gal drums. the land is partially owned by the state, and usibeli. But they have been fighting tooth and nail to get the permits to use the land.

According to their press they are the only coal mine currently in operation in Alaska. Your $180 a ton is probably equivalent to prices here in the northeast when you account for heat value.

Seems like there is some coal in Yukon territory also around Dawson City.

Yup usibili is the one and only operating coal mine in Alaska.

I just dont like paying over twice what it should cost me.

The distributor about 30 miles away will load my truck for 180 a ton.

If I drive to the mine, I can get it including the cost of fuel for 118 a ton

I have a bin for my twin axel car trailer, I winch it up. strap it down. then go north. Load up come back. tie the bin to a concrete pole. and drive the trailer out from under it. Holds right at 3.2 tonnes. its a 7500lbs rated trailer, but I only run the 3 ton since there are no trailer brakes.

The Coal place in Derry wants 310 a ton for bagged Blaschak. My local Ace in Goffstown wants 340 a ton bagged for Blaschak. I am debating on just driving straight to the Breaker again. Aubuchon hardware is 7.12 a bag if you buy 2400 lbs and 7.49 a bag anything under a pallet of 60 bags. so 375 a ton or 356 a ton if you buy at least 1 1/2 tons at a time.

Those prices are pretty high. If you do go to the breaker will you bag it yourself or just bring back bulk? Been thinking about tossing the bags and doing bulk myself. Need a bin to store it in first.

depends on which vehicle I take. If I take my Van I just bag it there. I have a bin that holds about 2 1/2 or 3 tons. I usually take the van it holds just over a ton but gas prices are too high right now to make it worth it for me. My truck gets worse mileage but will hold about 3000 lbs. If gas was 2 dollars I would probably go but I am looking for a dumptruck right now. I just gotta figure out what I have to do with the DOT in order to haul with a bigger truck. If there are more fees it won't really be worth it.

i picked up a ton of nut from premium fine about a month ago for someone and it had alot of wood pieces in it. the person that bought the coal didnt care, but me personally wouldnt pay 150 a ton for that.

When I got my load I didn't find any wood in it. Burns a lot better than the Blaschak I got last year. Now that had a lot of wood in it. Will never buy Blaschak again.

$15 per delivery since I live only a few miles down the road. I just looked at their website and they've increased it to $25 +
$1 per mile. Still a good value than having to lug 180, 40 lb bags into the basement. My bad was out for a week.

My first load of Blaschak had lots of rocks and was very wet. Some of the rocks were larger than golf balls. After that I burned Kimmel for a year before trying Blaschak again. Still wet but not as wet as before and no rocks yet. :|

Pittsburgh North

Just found a new place that I'm going to try.

Crystal Landscape Supply
211 Clay Street Ext
Mars, PA 16046
(724) 625-6633

Anthracite $270 ton
Bit $89 ton (looks to be ungraded)
Plus $35. min. delivery

You folks that live in anthracite country sure are lucky.
I use the bagged Blashak until the season gets rolling. Sure is nice and clean and odorless.
But once I'm burning constantly, I have to go to the soft. I can't justify 3 times the cost.

I'll let you know how it works out.
