WOW! That truck looks really overloaded! That looks to be a 1500. I have a 3/4 ton Suburban 2500 truck. How far were you able to drive like that? :-O

You got it -- 1/2 ton! :D Went 8 miles at up to 55 mph in spots. I always wondered why my friends are afraid to drive with me!

My last run i put 5,000 lbs on a single axle enclosed trailer with a 1330 GVWR! Had 80 psi in each tire & they looked like they had 8! Bounced like a basketball the whole 8 miles -- that even got ME concerned for a half second!

Thanks for all your hard work giving me sources. I thought that price may have been high. Nice pic of that truck squatting too. I have had 2 ton of scrap in the bed of my Dodge 2500 and it did pretty good...I don't need my springs snapping at the frame though so i'll stick to the 1 ton I feel comfortable with till I get tired of making trips.

I almost feel quilty, almost! Just hauled in 13,558 Lbs, cost $251.84 including tax ($11.99). Have to add about $100 or so for fuel costs. I have to haul 240 miles. That is Bit coal.

Received my 5 ton supply of pea coal this year on 8-1-09. I paid $210/ton delivered. My supplier used a small grain mover (10' elevator?) to put it in my bin for me. In all it took about 40 minutes from start to finish. I was very happy because my bin is ground level in my garage and I was wondering how he was going to do it without a hi-lift dump truck. My last experience with a grain mover wasn't as pleasant!

Was it a reg. grain auger or something else?

It was not an enclosed tube auger with a helicoid flight. It was an open chute with a conveyor belt powered by an electric motor. One end was wide and accepted the flow from the dump truck's small lever operated gate built in the tailgate. It moved the five tons in about 20 to 25 minutes. Set up and tear down only took about ten to twenty minutes.

The conveyor wasn't designed for pea coal but it worked well.
