A routine security update for a Microsoft Windows component installed on tens of millions of computers has quietly installed an extra add-on for an untold number of users surfing the Web with Mozilla's Firefox Web browser.

It's so typical Microsoft. If you want to secure your browser check out the following site for step-by-step instructions.

For on-line banking or other financial related transactions I boot my computer with the Linux operating system directly from a CD (Knoppix 4). This gives considerable protection because any hardware disk storage is defaulted to read only. This prevents any malware from being stored on your computer. Booting from a CD is certainly not convenient but I'm willing to go through the trouble to gain the extra security. It's still not 100% certain security but it's close.

I just checked an I have a couple MS DRM plugins installed which I know I didn't install. Any reason I can't dump them?
