Slow scrolling

Slow scrolling

PostBy: Machinist On: Thu Jun 04, 2009 8:02 pm

I've noticed that scrolling on this forum is very slow compared to other forums that I visit.
I'm using Windows XP and Firefox Browser.
What causes this?

I cannot control the speed a page scrolls at as far as I know unless the scroll is relevant to line height/default font which is a possibility. It's the only thing I can think of off hand. I'll dig around but unlikely there is anything I can do without changing a lot of default font sizes if it's what I think.

Slow scrolling could also be caused by a bandwidth issue, or your virusscan software decided to pick this moment to do a full-volume scan?

Sorry Machinist I accidentally edited your post when I meant to quote it. Once submitted I can't recover it so it's gone. Fortunately it wasn't too long and there is still this little snippet. That's about the 4th time I did that, I average about one a year and you are this years lucky winner. Congratulations. Don't feel bad as I believe I accidentally did it with very long one once and the poster lost a few paragraphs. .

The part of your post:
Very fast everywhere else.

The scrolling or the page load? This should be one of the fastest sites you visit if not the fastest. I kid you not as it's been heavily optimized. Only thing slowing it down is the Google ads sometimes.

No problem with the accident, They happen!
I have a broadband connection, and yes page loads are faster here.
Page scrolling is slow for me on this forum/web site only.
I have made a slight improvement by resetting "zoom".
You mentioned fonts and that prompted me to check "zoom".
I've just tried Microsoft Internet Explorer and found page scrolling is Fast!
Thanks for your help!
