Duck Season!

Duck Season!

PostBy: Richard S. On: Tue Jun 16, 2009 7:50 pm

I grew up in the 70's, back then Saturday morning cartoons were the thing. They'd start around 7AM and run until 12 noon. My all time favorites were the Warner Brothers ones and that show ran 2 or 3 hours and the clip above was probably my favorite of all. I'd imagine most of these are too politically incorrect to run nowadays for broadcast TV. I was watching Tom & Jerry the other day when I came across it on cable and I had to laugh as I'd imagine if they made a cartoon like that now people would have a fit. I know they still have violent cartoons but those are not aimed and younger children and they certainly are not going to have a cat smoking a cigarette.

I never watched cartoons when I was growing up. Never cared for them. I always watched "I Dream of Genie" or "Giligan's Island". Hmmmmm MaryAnn or Ginger :D

Funny you should post this Richard. It just happens that's where my screename comes from. Ceccil (Cecil) turtle. It was used as a joke a number of years ago and the name just sort of stuck. I actually use ceccil because cecil is usually already taken on a lot of sites. My favorite charactors were in fact cecil turtle and bashfull buzzard. "My momma done told me, bring home something for dinner". :D

Those were the days!

Tom & Jerry was my favorite, followed closely by Road Runner. First time I saw a real roadrunner in Phoenix, I laughed my ass off because you can totally see where the idea came from. The way they stick their neck out & their legs seem to spin in a circle! Used to watch the rest with equal enthusiasm : Bugs Bunny, Foghorn Leghorn, Hannah-Barbera's World of Super Adventure (rope man, cucko-man, etc.) Mighty Mouse, Klondike Kat, etc....just to name a few.

These shows would never fly now. Stuff like this just shows how soft we (as a society) have become these days....

DUCK Season! These loons used to follow our boat as we fished West Grand Lake in Maine. When you dropped your stringer in the water, they would dive under the boat and start eating the fish off the stringer! :mad3: :rambo2:

The Disney Movie "Song of the South" hasn't been released to public since the 80's or something like that, Disney buried it.

Nothing funny about duck season in my neck of the woods, its not even close to dawn & it sounds like a war going on. I swear some of the hunters are using street sweepers if they hit anything there won`t be enough left to make a sandwich out of.
