Why would you think it's not a problem? If your eyes on the phone they aren't on the road, I can't tell you how many accidents I have avoided simply because I was paying attention. Many of them required action that split second.

I totally agree taking your eyes off the road for any reason is a big cause of accidents. I was talking about how people slow to a dangerously slow speed on the hi way because they are deep in conversation. also how pointless the the hands free law is. Most of the time people are still taking there eyes off the road to dial and to answer(see who's calling) the phone.

Of course I'm a bit anti social to begin with but when I'm driving I'm constantly watching out for the dumbass in the other car that thinks he can drink coffee, talk on a phone and have a cigarette while piloting a vehicle.

Hey Bill, you just described me! I have a hard time concentrating on driving, when someone is sitting in the right seat, flapping their jaw at me. I never even power my phone up while I am driving. Trying to watchout for the D.A.s is a fulltime job while commuting these days. :D

Chris,
Another defensive driver, thank God. :) I wish more people would take driving as a responsibility, not an annoyance. I love driving, should've been a trucker. Get to drive to Philly this AM. Time to get my semi annual spinal shots. Looking forward to it, I'll be able to walk without limping again by this afternoon. Have to bring my son to drive me home. I'm in for a white knuckle ride on the way back. I don't make a good passenger. My hand will be on the e brake handle all the way home. :D

Have hope, Bill. Even though we are a dying breed, theres gotta be more of us out there. I think the problem is: everyone has to get to their destination NOW or 5 minutes ago. When I was little, it used to be a thrill to take a ride in the back of my Dad's ol' Chevy pickup on a hot summer's day, just taking in the sites, with our dog hanging his nose far out over the side of the truckbed as he could. Jeez, you can't do that anymore

If a man is a fool, you don't train him out of being a fool by sending him to university. You merely turn him into a trained fool, ten times more dangerous.

If you see a little old guy in a blue saturn passing you on the right pointing to heaven with his middle finger, it might be me. :D
