True!
But it is what I do. :D
That $6000 server weighs in at 75 pounds and out performs more expensive name brand servers!

But why does he need the server? Just get a $500 +/- business class Dell and put the rest of the money in a NAT (Network Attached Storage) unit with RAID. In another 5 years the computer will be obsolete and can be replaced with a by then less than $500 one. The NAT will still be humming along with all the data intact he put on it 5 years earlier. Can't afford an off the shelf NAT with RAID? Build you own using the existing computer. The drive will be completely reformatted with a new Linux operating system solving the virus problem. Remember, "My main use will be ....."

Selling an Eskimo a refrigerator :D
Yes Yanche I know the server was overkill, just a bit a sarcasm
The server sarcasm was followed by this sage advice...
Expect to pay about $1100 at your local shop and you will not be disappointed.
OR
Spend $500 at the big box store every 3 years.

Remember I was advocating for the repair of the old box.
At 5 years the computer was due for replacement.
$500 well spent for the refurbished box.
Just make sure to image that drive on a regular basis along with daily data backups.
That program will lessen any viral impact. :(
