Hot Air Coal Stoker Furnace: Leisure Line Hearth with twin turbos (sounds like it)

These from the Binghamton 2009 airshow. I was about 1.5 miles from the airport in a friend's field.

That is really cool. We used to go up to the hills around the airport at night when we were teens to drink beer and carry on. Beautiful countryside.

Really nice shots Av8r. What were you shooting with and was it hand held?

That was my Canon 30D and a Sigma 50-500 which works out to about 80-800 with the crop factor. I pretty much only shoot hand held. I have a slew of tripods and monopods, but just don't like them when shooting action stuff so I learned to hold steady. Most of these are shot fully zoomed.

Nice Warthog!
They did practice runs on the UNH campus when Pease AFB was in full swing.
Loved the sound of them overhead!

A couple of weekends ago, my wife and I drove to the beach in Lewes, Delaware on a Sunday. We drove down Rt. 1 through Dover and there was an air show going on. Just as we were passing the air base, the loudest noise (explosion) I have ever heard in my life happened right over top of my car. It scared the living crap out of both of us. I honestly thought a plane had crashed in close proximity to us and we were going to be engulfed in flames any second. I looked to my left out my open window and there was a fighter jet at what looked like only a couple hundred feet off of the ground heading away from my location at about 800mph. We eventually figured out he had broken the sound barrier right over our car. This all happened in about a half a blink of an eye. He came from the west and was heading out over the ocean. Words can't begin to describe the intensity of this event. I nearly had to change my shorts!

F18 on the banks of the Detroit River. "One resident said: 'I couldn't believe how low they flew and how close they came to our building - I'm sure the pilot waved at me.'"
