I am always amazed when the question of race is brought up. You didn't hear that from me nor would you. My respect is for the office regardless of what color the office holder is or what political party he belongs to. My issue is that we have not been given definitive proof that this man meets the requirements outlined in the Constitution. There are too many open ended questions for me when dealing with this issue; too many pat answers. Obama could put the whole thing to rest by releasing the documentation. I know that you feel my opinion doesn't matter but here goes anyway. Yes, the soldier does have the standing to question it and any other order that he knows to be an illegal order. That's drilled in to the new soldiers from day one. I know this because I served 3 years as a Company Commander of a basic training unit during the mid 90s. Not hearing the order directly from the CinC mouth or anyone else in the chain of command doesn't negate that. If it does come out that Obama does not meet the requirements for the office of President, what then? The implications are tremendous. Obama can put the questions to rest by simply releasing the documentation.

What really happened:

In 1962 poor woman in her twenties and nine months pregnant hopped on a airplane without anyone knowing about it and flew to Kenya. She then had her baby in a dirt floor hovel and stayed there for about two months to recover.

She then realized "Oh my gosh, my son is going to become the forty-third President of the United States". So she called Star Fleet Command and explained the situation to them.

The Admiral in charge contacted Captain Kirk of the Starship Enterprise and told him to pick up Barack and his mom to bring him back in time to Hawaii so his mother pay the hospital to put a birth announcement in the newspaper the day after he was born and forge a birth certificate.

He did release his birth certificate. The State of Hawaii has said it is authentic.

The tinfoil hat crowd said it's a fake.

My opinion doesn't matter. The only opinions that matters are the opinions of the judges who consistently throw out these suits.

lowfog01 - If you had respect for the office you would accept that people who are paid to dig this crap up came up with nothing at all and this is all rumor and by you feeding this trash the rumors stay alive and distract us from the real issues that can take our country into the toilet where it'll stay for a long time to come-so why bring this up again and again, and again. Even if there was a technicality and he wasn't officially a citizen what would you suggest we do? Do you think it would be wise to impeach a sitting president over a technicality and risk putting this country at risk? Is this what you want. The reason I say he is black is that there are many people in this country who still hate, dislike or look down on blacks. Many of them don't like the idea of a black president - So they spread rumors and try to discredit a guy who is trying to move this country in the right direction. How anyone could have voted for Bush is beyond me. He fooled me the first time around but not the 2nd time. I thought he would bring this country together and do the right things. IMHO he did lots of damage. Just FYI Obama did release his birth certificate in 2008 which showed he was born in Hawaii. Yet the same people who spread this rumor also began to cry that this certificate was fake. Suprise, suprise. This thread just goes to validate my feeling that Americans don't want to fix things and look forward they would rather sling crap and be negative. Why don't you spend your time doing something positive. I say this with total respect.

I think that you protest to much. I never allowed my comments to speak to either Administration’s policies or how we got to the mess we are in now and believe me I could have. My question is "Is Obama legally qualified to sit as President under Article II of the Constitution?" I say that this is an open question which could and should be easily answered. My question to you is – are we a country of laws that apply to everyone or a country that laws do not apply to the chosen few? If our laws, which are based on the Constitution, don't apply to everyone that what have we become and what will the direction of the nation continue to be.

I can see that this conversation is going no where so let's end it here.

Remember that Bush and Greenspan created the problems we have now. Stimulus has more of a psychological effect than anything else. The government took a stand that it would do whatever it takes to keep this country from dire straights. Obama is a good man who is trying to tackle the tough issues that past presidents have kicked along to the next president. By the way his birth certificate has been examined and was deemed to be genuine also his parents took out a blurb in a Hawaiin paper touting their new son's birth. Let it go. You lost the race and instead of slinging dodo get behind your president and help him fight the fight for a better country.

I will not stand behind Obama because i dont believe in him or his way of thinking,he is a socialist plain and simple and is not right for us.
As far as the birth certificate,if it is not real or he cant produce 1 that is HE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE!
