Right, we'll see if a correction is made on the GB radio or TV show.

If you are a participating dealer you will have to interact with government property computers to receive reimbursements.

Caught part of the second hour of the GB radio show today, missed the beginning but he did cover the topic again. The login warning was for dealer networks and he raised the questions I stated earlier in that the statement is so broad that no one can say (even attorneys) where the "network" ends on the subscribing computer user.

ETA : Another 2 billion down the drain if they Senate passes the addendum.

What a waste of good equipment and tax dollars : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waj2KrKYTZo

Isn't that Volvo pretty much brand new??? That thing can't get bad mileage!! It's essentially a new car!! :? :? :nono: Couldn't the "party of the people" give that to a poor guy at a substantial discount???

All in the name of saving the environment.

How's this for logic: pay people their tax money for buying a new car, then we take their old car & rev it up to a level not normally sustained on any road, further polluting the air & wasting gasoline, then release more particulate smoke than a small factory as the engine begins to sieze, THEN PEPPER THE PRECIOUS ENVIRONMENT WITH MOTOR OIL WHEN IT FINALLY SEIZES UP!!! Gotta love Obama logic!!

OBAMA IS A DIPSHIT!!

You should send that video to some ultra-left-wing environmental website & see what they have to say about their saviour then!

Didn't us conservatives warn you liberals that this would happen if he got elected?????? YOU DIDN'T LISTEN! Now sit back & reap what you have sown! :bop:

There are quite a few videos on the web now, and you have it right. Clouds of smoke, oil and antifreeze spewed all over the ground and nothing recycled except the scrap iron.

Grade the program? An appalling disaster.

I'm not debating it's brain dead to be seizing motors that are going to be shredded anyway.

If they did it the way it's supposed to be done there wouldn't be anything for them to film. But that wouldn't be any fun ,would it? :D :D :D

Draining coolant, leaving off oil fill caps, WOT revving, just make for good video.

You're not seeing more bipartisan opposition to CARS because it benefits both sides of a bad coin. Lefties think it's great "gas guzzers" are being removed and righties, with a few crocodile tears about taxpayer money, see tax dollars going to corporations, . Win-win for the politcos, lose-lose for the working stiff.

I don`t know where the truth is, I saw a segment where a scrap( sorry! auto salvage yard) was getting the cash for clunkers cars & showing on camera what they are allowed to take off( catalitic converter, doors, battery & tires mostly) then they drain all fluids on a rack, smach the car & then shred it. That u-tube video shows cars & trucks that in my opimion are clearly worth more than $4,500. Why would anyone trade something in as a clunker when you could sell it outright & make more & then be able to make a better cash deal on a new car if thats what you wanted?

IMHO after shopping for the last 3 weeks for a good deal (which isn't out there so I reset my price up a couple more K)
Most dealers and bureaucrats assume we are stupid emotionally motivated morons who cant see past a couple of thousand dollars. One dealer I talked to last week said of the original billion (do the math that's over 250000 cars the first week of the program) many dealers won't get reimbursed because the cars don't qualify which leaves the purchaser holding the bag. I asked if that was written into the sales agreement as part of the trade / down payment and he stated there is now a disclaimer (gotta love the fine print) that says IF the car qualifies. SO basically the dealer is telling you you get the CARS rebate but when it doesn't pass the govt check you are left holding the bill. I'm thinking there will be a new definition of 'going postal'.

There is a very good article on Edmonds.com about how dealerships work. They hired a reporter to go undercover and work at a dealer for 3 months (not just a hidden camera trick). Lengthy article but very informative about the sales tricks and pressure the managers put on the staff.

Our local newpaper went to a recycling yard that is beginning to process the first wave of clunker turn-ins. They quoted yard foreman John Short: "It's kind of depressing, actually, because some of them are really nice vehicles -- a lot of them are better than the vehicles our employees are driving," Short said.

Waste, waste, waste.
