It's not looking good that's for sure :( It was said by one of the framers of the constitution that we would be lucky to last 200 years. They gave us something good and look what we've done to it.

I believe I have located the root source of why Democrats are the way they are and act the way they do. The source is the rooted in the belief of 'Justice via Egalitarianism'. Egalitarianism teaches that all men are equal. This differs widely from the Founders view that all men are created equal. It means that they are always equal, not just at the moment of their creation. And Egalitarianism teaches that equality itself not only must be, but in fact is the standard of justice.

The operative premise of egalitarian justice is that differentiating between peoples levels of ability or performance is wrong. And it leads to the concept that those born with any perceived level of above normal ability must share their shear luck fortune with those who were not born with such luck.

A few examples of the end result of believing in and practicing egalitarian justice include:

The promotion of failing students.
The admission of students to schools of higher education regardless of how bright or prepared they are.
The idea that everyone has a right to a higher education.
Distributing government "Art" funds equally on any and all levels, from "Piss Christ to the Mona Lisa".
The idea that successful businesses or business people have exceeded their fair share, or that they do not contribute their fair share.
Granting Barack Obama and Bob Dylan Nobel Prizes.
The idea that "You didn't build that!"
The idea that in reality things are not possible to ever be defined as black and white, true or false, but rather that all things are necessarily gray.
The idea that all social practices deserve equal protection.

In effect the standard of egalitarianism becomes the standard of sameness. Egalitarianism in the end is the antithesis of justice. It is the evasion of justice. It is the inversion of justice. According to Ayn Rand this form of justice flies in the face of a human beings rational need to selfishly discriminate between good and bad. Any attempt to enforce the application of justice via egalitarian equality ultimately compels those applying said justice to (quoting Ayn Rand) "punish men for their virtues and reward them for their vices". It compels the belief that some people must somehow be seen as better or worse than they actually are. It refuses to recognize individuals differences. It completely evades reality.

It seems to me as if Democrats are predominantly egalitarians. And as such they desire to force egalitarianism upon everyone as if it is the ideal moral imperative. Their tool to accomplish this is egalitarian justice. Their core basis and means of selecting Court Justices is egalitarianism. Justice by this standard must not be blind. It must be egalitarian.

I think you are exactly right. Egalitarianism is both inhuman and inhumane, contrary to what our species actually is. Those advocating it usually mean for everybody but themselves, if wealthy, and simple envy if not.

No! A class driven society is a society in which the only moral justification for your existence is self-sacrificial service to others. And much more so with respect to others in the classes above your own.

Egalitarianism posits falsely that this is the alternative that one is left with if one is opposed to equality. To the egalitarian, the only choices available to mankind are to live in a society of law and justice whereby the lower classes or those of less fortune (luck) must be forced to sacrifice to those of higher class or more fortune, or to live in a society of law and justice whereby the higher classes or those of more fortune (luck) must be forced to sacrifice to those of lower class or less fortune. This clearly sets up a false dichotomy. One that in the end offers only sacrifice as mans reason for existence. The two choices offered to man by this clearly inhumane line of thinking are that he must choose only between sacrificing in the name of altruism, or sacrificing due to ones class driven status.

The first draft of the Egalitarian 'Declaration of Dependence'

We hold this truth to be self-evident, that all men are equal, and that they are endowed by their government with the right to live by the sacrificial principle of from each according to his ability to each according to his need. — That to secure equality, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the egalitarian need to imbalance the scales of justice.

I believe Democrats would be found highly in agreement with such a declaration.

What is an alternative to egalitarianism that you believe would be beneficial and induce positive change in today's society?
