:help: I am thinking of buying my coal this year from Staelens coal in Madison, NY. In the past I have bought other places and don't really have alot of options . I don't know alot about coal quality as I have only heated with coal for 2 winters now. has anybody bought from them and how was the quality? :help:

Their coal is outstanding! I am told it is Jeddo. I used to drive from Albany NY to get it! They are good folks. I have been burning a hand fired Buderus for 27 years.

Of all the coal I've burned it is one of the worst IMO.I've had better coal from Earlys farm supply on Rt 20 but that's a crap shoot also.It sounds like your in my neck of the woods(Earlville) if you are I have a coal guy that will get you any coal you want, from whatever breaker you want bulk or bagged. He likes to get 5 or 10 ton loads to keep his fuel cost down and that keeps your cost down as well. His nam is Chad and his # is 607-627-6545.He's from Smyrna(sp)

PS once you've burned Deep mined coal(ie) Superior and some others, all the other stuff is just black dirt.

I burned the local stuff for the first few years but last year I took a dump trailer down to PA and picked up 7 tons of the deep mined stuff. The difference was astonishing- complete burns, tons of heat, etc. I'll never buy the local stuff again. Hook up with a guy that will make a run for you, it's worth it.
