Newbe With a Question

first year with my alaska stoker hearth model very happy with it. I have a safety question my stove has little gaps around hinge area were ash door and viewing door opens is this what every stove has ? hope pics come out to show what I am talking about thanks to all that reply, I don't want any coal gas to come into my home thanks scott

Doesnt look like a good design/way to do it. Probably wouldnt let any gas out if drafting correctly but I wouldnt take any chances. Cant see real good with the pics but can you possibly get some furnace cement in there or a piece of rope gasket? I would try that.

Stoves are normally under a vacuum, unless something goes wrong, you shouldn't have gases coming out, and if the hole is that small, not that much would come out anyway if at all upon a failure of something.
I would check to see if there is any open holes around the hinges, get some hi temp silicone or rope gasket and glue it shut.
If it's just the hinge/pin gap, no problem, there should be a gasket around the door that seals the stove up. hard to tell from picture.

Thank you guys, I will plug up the holes with rutland hi temp cement just to be safe. I like the warmth coal gives my home I am new to this and just want to play it safe when it comes to my family thanks Scott
