Nawwww, no need for a 60" bar anymore, I went with a 36" GB bar. The Pro Top is a solid bar like the Stihl Rollomatic ES, and also has a removable tip, but it cost about half what an ES bar cost. I like them, been using them on my smaller saws for years. I stayed with the .404 pitch chain so I could use the same sprocket drive.
I can now take the 36" bar off of my 066, and put on a 28" or 32", which will make it a little lighter.
I'm too old for the longer/heavier bars, these days :D :D :D

My brother used to have one of the biggest saws Husky made when he used to do trees. I used to love putting a small bar on it and take it to party in the woods. I'd have a crowd watching as I zipped through 3 and 4 foot logs like one of those logger races. They all be sitting around gaped mouthed, a lot of people have never seen a saw like that in action. That damn thing ate gas faster than my car.

I love my stihl , it is a gas hog for sure but it cuts wood faster than anything. I am down to the 325 pitch, and mix 5 gal at a time with the stihl ultra synthetic.

That 3 ft saw is badd-azzzzzzz :o

I think Richard should add a ham radio, shortwave listening, cb discussion into the board index. Somewhat of a hobby of mine since I was young enough to understand basic electric. What do ya think?

I realize this suggestion is in the wrong thread right now but that's all I have for the minute.

Is this the coal forum or the lumberjack forum? Now hold your posts until I win! Rumor has it that a wealthy member has donated $1,000 for every attempt Teddy made to save Mary Joe to honor the memory of the old bloated drunk. By my calculation (1,000 x 0 = ?) I could win upwards of…. Forget it, keep posting and let someone else win.

For a new forum there needs to be enough interest, right now you could post that here:

Hobbies, Hunting, Fishing and Camping

On the other hand if you wanted to invite a bunch of fellow radio buddies and it was going to get used a lot I'll provide one. For that matter if anyone has group of people with the same interest I could provide all kinds of forums. For example if you had a local club that needs a private no public access forum I can do that.

One thing I would like to do is add a regional section, Pennsylvanian, New York, Maryland etc. Those sections could be broken down to counties or areas in those states. It could then even be broken down to towns and cities. The problem is attracting enough people to it so I would start out with just the states and break them up into regions of a state as needed.

By state and region will be good. We could discuss local coal prices, weather, etc....

Beee-U-ti-ful day. Sunny, but cooool. Low 70s. Looks like our short summer is over. At least its not raining today. Time to start getting the DVC-500 ready. I got a mod to the firebricks I gotta do before the burning season starts. I found that ALOT of unburned coal gets pushed thru a 3/4" gap between the firebricks and the sides of the burn pot, and falls down into the ash pan, never to be burned. I'm going to cut thin pieces of firebrick and use furnace cement to 'glue' the thin pieces to fill in this gap. I'll start another thread, with Pics, to show other DVC-500 owners what to look for.

Well it wouldn't be for coal necessarily but I guess i would preclude it from that. More like a community type deal but again it comes down to having enough people to actually use it. I'm not going to start a bunch of forums just so they sit idle. ;)

The low 70's!! Lucky dog. It's been in the mid to lower 50's here! Oh well, that's what I get for living in northern Maine. Great idea about fixing that gap and posting pics.

Keeps up with nights this cool and I'll be firring up a couple of logs in the fireplace. 52 here now. Took a quick inventory of my leftover coal and I'm good for better than a week of fall weather whenever that starts. Heard from John and he is getting the truck ready for hauling. Ah, it's only the first of September and I can almost smell that smell in the air :D
