WhereisWare: I'm pretty sure this is a stoker feed stove right?? I saw a few of these on ebay a few months ago. Almost ANY used stoker sold for around $800, so a NEW left-over stove with [hopefully] a warantee for $1000 is a good deal.
Does the stoker unit come into the firebox from the side?? I think the main change from the old to the new models is that the stoker enters the firebox from the rear, giving a nicer [centered] view of the fire on the grate through the front door's window.
If this stove is what you need, I'd go for it. You certainly won't find a new stove for less.
I looked on the Alaska Stove site, and the Kodiak shown there has a gravity hopper feed, is the 2005 model like this?? Either with an electric motor powered stoker or a gravity feed, it sounds like a good deal.
