And telling your wife to come home on the flatbed with the Jimmy? You've got way more b*lls than I have, too!

Smitty: I'm hurting all over 'cause I'm trying to laugh my guts out quietly. I didn't want to wake the rest of the house up. Jesus H. Christ, with all the non-blasphemous respect, couldn't exorcise the turd out of this demon. I have you pictured sitting at your kitchen table, just staring at a 45 automatic. This rotten machine couldn't pull a sick hooker off a toilet, let alone act like a decent mode of tranportation. Not another dime,Smitty.....not another dime. Drive a stake through this things heart and crush it. Your a decent guy and I think you'd have nightmares if you passed this semi-rolling dung heap off on someone else. I know you'd be screwed money-wise doing it this way,but I'd rather walk than let this "Christine" drive me to the looney bin...........Aw Cripes,I'm cramping up from trying not to whizz myself laughing.......

Ah yes that does work great ... if you DO NOT live in MA. The instant they plug the computer into that port under the dash near the steering column, they immediately know that the light is SUPPOSED to be on. FAIL! You get a big black "R" on your inspection sticker, which is a cop magnet. More revenue for the state one way or the other! See why I love this place so much??? Can't get a break in any aspect of MA life!

Glad you all enjoyed ... I felt better after venting in that little piece. :D

The Jimmy has been posted for sale. With my luck the next guy will get 300,000 out of it .......

He probably will. Seems to be the way, solve a problem and give it up, the next guy is going to sail for free. It is good to
cut it loose. You will gain some sanity, and the next guy a decent cheap ride. Sounds like a good deal to me!

I`m just lucky all of Pa. doesn`t have the same insp. rules, it goes by population I believe. Where I used to live near Pittsburgh they did the emissions computer thing, up here its like the old pull the wheels, check the front end & lights type insp. If worse comes to worse I`ll get it titled in Ohio. Its not that I haven`t tried to fix it, ever since the brake lines rusted out from the liquid crap they use its been on. All new lines installed everythings working like it should, light just won`t go out.

Alot of the time, the light is just telling you that Al Gore would not be happy with you. As in my case, that P0300 code NOT blinking the check engine light indicates that it is not a serious, cat-melting misfire ... only an emissions issue. It's "polluting" more than the designers had allowed.

That light will come on if you don't tighten your gas cap!! It is the dumbest system ever devised in our long history ... :?

yes since the tank and internal fuel system captures the hydrocarbon vapors in the charcoal canister then when you start the car up the purge valve opens and sucks the fuel vapors into the intake thus using all the precious fuel. the o ring on the gas cap seals the tank so the puter can do a vaccuum test on the system during the first two minutes of engine operation....blah, blah ,blah.... in theory a great idea but in the real world of poor conectors and harsh enviroments and stupid human tricks... a poor idea.

hey smitty you making charcoal viedos instead of fixing the cars??????? :D  8-)

I can understand your anger. Mine was 3 new Fords; a1987 & 2 1989's. The 87 went south @ 3000 miles. Trans & transfer and camshaft. Over the next 24k needed 2 trans and 5 cams. Trades up to the 89. Big mistake. Shocks on frt. fell of @ 2500 miles. An omen if ever there was one. Paint went @ 3000 miles, Clutch, rearend, brakes, axel seals(4 times), dash cluster, you name it, it went bad. And getting the dealer to fix this crap was unreal. Had to pay for some of it, and got rid of it at 32,000 miles. Never another Ford! Lived to eat those words. Bought a 89 ford deisel rollback. What a peice of crap. We worked on it more than we used it. Swore off Fords for good. Tried Dodge, but settled for GMC. Seem to be real good for me. Lot of it is just luck.

And there we have the problem with stupid laws -- they drive otherwise law-abiding citizens to give and expect bribes, a.k.a. criminal behavior. Pretty soon Massachusetts will look like Afghanistan.

Don't forget the 1984 seat belt interlock which would not let you start the engine until you buckled up. Good intentions, maybe, but in the real world it would malfunction so you just had to bypass it.

Hey! If its OK to give CEOs a bonus for running the business why isn`t it OK to give a little bonus to the guy to look the other way? Thats just good old American way of doing business.

Don't know if you are kidding or not. But it is not OK. It is a slippery slope. I read a great book a few years ago, titled "Eat the Rich" by P.J. O'Rourke. I thought it was going to be comedy, but it was quite serious. The gist -- at least what I came away with -- is that almost any economic system can be successful, IF everyone knows the rules and the rules are consistently enforced. Sure, some of the rules may be dumb and inefficient, but you factor that in to your business decisions to decide whether any given enterprise will be successful or not. But once the rules become arbitrary, with no enforcement, dog eat dog, then the country goes to hell. Why build up a business if, as soon as you become successful, every tin pot government official can bleed you dry at his whim? Why invest in the stock market if some corporate shyster can strip the assets and leave your stock worthless? Once corruption like that becomes the rule rather than the exception, nobody trusts anybody any more, business stagnates, citizen unrest grows, and pretty soon you have a failed country instead of the paradise it could have been. Case in point: half the countries in Africa. Don't let's go there.

OK, I'm off my soap box for now. Carry on.
