Saturday coffee 8-22-09

PostBy: Freddy On: Sat Aug 22, 2009 6:41 am

Good day! Step right up and pour your self a big ol' cup of Jo. Tis a specoal blend made from beans hand picked by South Side Columbian Elves and ground between two dics of anthracite. I'll get ya started!

Finally, an entire week with no rain....although hurricane Bill is supposed to brush by us this weekend. So far, not a thing from him.
Sorry I couldn't make coffee last week. We went to "North Camp" for 5 days. No Internet up there. What a beautiful place though. There is electricity but no TV. Used to be you could hear one channel, but now with digital, not even that, but, ohhhh, what a calm, quiet, beautiful, everyone is your friend, place.

Breakfast calls! I hope you enjoy the day!

Howdy! I got the Jo. Thanks Freddy. I'm in North Carolina this weekend, and will check out Hurricane Bill. There were Whitecaps under the Cheaspeake Bay Bridge/tunnel, when we went over it yesterday. No rain yet, but the seas are supposed to be nasty. Hot & HUMID, is an understatement.

G-mornin Freddy and everybody,

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer, rainy as it's been here. Not a good day for sleeping after the first midnight shift. Hard going back to it after a month off of swing shift.

Had a good ride south to visit friends and the best ride north ever on the Blue Ridge Parkway thru NC & VA. Love that road! I've done it completely twice and most of it 7 times now. This was the best. Sunny cumulus specked blue sky, and only ONE car in front of me from 2:30 - 9pm. If you've never been on the BRPky try to do some of it but don't bother if the weather is lousy.

Yawn ,.,,, time for some zzzs. The sunset pics make me sleepy ...

Beautiful pics of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Been there only once but remember the wow factor was pretty high. Thanks for sharing!

Bar Harbor ale. Good stuff!

Today I finally got to it.... Today turned out to be the one day a year that I mess with coal. I used my backhoe & filled my coal bin. It all went smoothly. Popped the removable roof off the bin, 9 scoops with the front end bucket, lifted the roof back on, job done. T'were a good Sat morning project, but, man, it's humid! It took two T-shirts to get the job done and a third after a shower.

Now.... do nothing the rest of the weekend. Ya, right, that won't last long. Perhaps I'll start my next project: An electric kayak.

The Blueridge PW is a beauty; I get to enjoy that ride every Oct and May. Never get tired of either. We think we live in the mountains? They have the mountains! ( Nice foliage, too!)

Electric kayak? I thought 'stokerscott' was working on the ant-dust fired mini-boiler powered kayak?! He says anything that moves can be coal powered, and I'm sure that is correct. Are you guys going to use an auger to feed the mini?... or a gravity hopper above deck? If the kayak flips, have you developed any protocol for battery or boiler protection? Although I guess the steam plume would be a great 'marking device'.

The dew point is 73 here, so I can relate to the humidity issues. Warm week, but no need to shovel or plow anything!
