I can't believe I'm looking forward to the cold weather. I've got a sickness!
I reinstalled my Koker the way I was threatening to do about midway thru last winter. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out and anxious to fire it up and feel the heat!
But for now, I'd better come to my senses and enjoy the summer.
I'm just glad to hear I'm not the only one with this sickness.

Burning coal is in a mans veins just like it is in the earth. It is nice when folks stop over and are amazed at how comfortable your house is. Us coal burners are always trying to beat the system (Oil, gas, and electric), and when you have as much success as most of us do you just want to do it :!: :P Kind of like Boy Scouts for grown ups, always wanting to have a fire.

Same problem here. Solved it by heating my DHW with the Alaska, now it burns all year. Wife doesn't get it, though.

So Im outside today after work.... Im watering my newly planted shrubs and trees in the 90 degree heat. Im thinking how much I cant wait to be in my cozy living room while its bitterly cold outside only by the light of the dancing blue flames.... I must say... I really am looking foward to the winter :)

As much as I like burning, I still HATE winter.

I suppose it has to do with where I live. If all of you lived here you'd hate it too! ;)

I've been trying to set a date in my head as to when I should fire up the Axeman & start making hot water. The date keeps getting earlier. This friday the high is supposed to be 60....might be a good time to use my yearly alloted match.

About the middle of May, I tore out my stove and reinstalled it. You know, new liner, different position, and a much bigger fan. So now I sit on the couch looking at it and wonder when I can test it out by burning a good fire. Wife thinks I'm nuts. Am thinking tending a stove in the winter is not near as much work as cutting our grass. I,m ready to go, just waiting for it to get colder. David.

We were getting smoke in the living room, so I went to see where it was coming from. Turns out the guy down the street had just installed a wood stove in his garage. I said, "Why are you burning now? It's 80 degrees outside." As soon as I said it, I thought, "Duh! What kind of stupid question is that? Of COURSE you have to try it out immediately!"

Mine doesn't get it the coal thing, but she does get that I don't care where she leaves the thermostat.

Just picked up thirty, 5 gallon chlorine buckets for this winter's ash disposal - one step closer to lightup time. :D
