Reassessment

Anyone have any feelings on the county wide reassessment in Luzerne County? Any questions maybe? Homeowners beware you should be paying attention cause if you own an older home your taxes are going up! If this doesn't bother you fine but just sit there right now and really think, what exactly do I get for my county tax dollars?

I can say that when I lived in North Carolina, I payed $600 a year in country property taxes which were the only property taxes levied. For that I got a county police force, a county EMS service, 911, garbage pick up, recyclable pick up, and school. What do you get here?

I wish we'd get all that here but forget it. I ended up paying 1,400 because I didn't have the 1,200 in October. Add 250 for garbage & then in the spring we'll get socked w/a 600. tax bill as well. It's the type of crap that can break hard working folks just wanting to own a nice home for their family. God help us if our taxes go up even more. I'm not very educated on where it all goes, I don't pay attention to politics & such, but maybe I should. 600 a year total sounds just lovely!

600 a year total is what I paid in North Carolina. For my 600 I got police, fire, ems, 911, court, school, garbage, etc etc. I just for the life of me can't understand why they can do it there but they can't do it here.

Greedy bastards in office. Either that or they don't know how to manage the money. There must be something we're paying for that you weren't in NC. Can't all be for the salt & cinders? LOL!

Don't know much about it. But thats all I could come up with! We got our reassessment paper last week. I still have to call & fix it. They have us all messsed up. We have a raised ranch w/a dinky 8 x 10 shed. 2BR-2baths-w/electric heat. But we just use the coal but they don't know that. Then they say we have a single wide mobile home w/alum ext walls. 1 bath w/ 3 BR heated by hot water & a 21 x 100 shed! That isnt even close! Maybe hiring dipshits is what costs us so much money up here. Now they have to take the time to fix crap like this. Nice job Luzerne County! Yippie skippie for you!

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy reassessment will be delayed till next year but to the tune of $750,000. I really don't know how we make it through a whole day in Luzerne Conty.
